Read the article - very laughable. They need a new advisor who knows what's going around in the world of engineering

I'm still very unsure about coming in here. Apart from the fact we know RR has taken quite a battering it's that they have made the guys take leave and expected them to take a 10% pay cut. That seems to me to be very desperate and is that going to show badly in the results? They are not going to be good, it's just a question of how bad.

Good question. Bombardier the closest but not sure the antimonopoly commissions would allow that tie up. The aircraft manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus don't have the cash at the moment. Leaves the big engineering guys like GE etc. Just personal opinion.

careful. On one hand you say that "Cash is the right place to be right now, because shares are way overvalued". Yet, on the other hand you say "Yes I have tobacco, IMB" even though "The debt on the balance sheet is also eye watering". You also say "And our favourite RR has a negative net worth" - "A staggering fact". Yet you hold these companies and not cash? How odd. It is clear then, that cash is not the right place to be - just as I said. Apparently, even you don't believe your advice.

The ethical question is: how can he take a cash salary, when workers have been forced to take unpaid leave, in order to preserve cash?

Looking forward to H1 results Thursday 5th.

We expect a loss and a modest cash burn but hopefully improving.
Lots of ammunition left to survive.
Warren East has turned RR into a lean and mean operation.

Exciting times with hydrogen, nuclear, electric.
RR. is an important company and could become a national champion in so many areas.

Intrigued that the CEO Warren East opted to take a portion of his salary as shares last week.
Is he trying to tell us something?

Yes I have tobacco, IMB, also.
There are some opportunities out there for good long term total returns.

Interesting though with tobacco shares, you must time the point of entry.
Shares in tobacco companies have collapsed over the last few years, although earnings and dividends have been solid.

If you had bought at the top just a few short years ago you would be feeling very sick.

The debt on the balance sheet is also eye watering.
In all of its life IMB has accumulated negligible wealth on it balance sheet.

And our favourite RR. has a negative net worth.
Over 100 years of existence, our great company RR. has accumulated a negative net asset value.
A staggering fact.

I am beginning to think that for investors many companies are glorified Ponzi schemes.
But for every other stakeholder, employees, national interest, suppliers they are very important wealth creators.

careful
