09/6/2011 10:15 | Feel like a kid being continually disappointed on xmas day when don't wake up to RNS, can't be due to consulation period embargo so much be finalising/negotiati Nice work GS on the Porsche! Model? I find with the risky shares it's a combination of finding the gems and then waiting for them to be cheap as chips so you minimse the chance of downside risk, and if it's event driven (e.g. RNVO) get further protection with guaranteed stops. Although interestingly on IG they've now pretty much stopped taking them on all O&G/mining, they must have been badly burnt on the Falklands. I'm doing a review of all the pharma small caps at the moment to find the next RNVO to ride (if anyone has any smallcap pharmas currently in potentially company making trials let me know) Like the concept of getting into an event driven share early and then benefitting and locking in profits with IG guaranteed stops as the speculators come in closer to announcements | holly_dog
08/6/2011 11:46 | I've been on a few of those boards, where it's been a little gang who only like to hear each other speak and never accept an alternative, balanced viewpoint. Tedious. This board is great for balanced views and open to different opinions. Smith I think the dangerous streak, when as you say is well managed and takes things on when risk/reward is in your favour is half the fun of investing, and also depends on age (for me still happy to take the punts). I have this view on investing in general which is that to make any share worth buying you have to assume you know more than the market, otherwise it should be priced in (give or take market sentiment). So the odds of me having one over 25 Tesco analysts is slim, hence I generally tend to stay away from large caps unless I really know/like the company or am playing on a trend (e.g. ASOS). With small caps, there is just less coverage so I feel there is more of a chance of me being able to know at least as much as the rest of the market with some good research, and in fact you can often know more than any analyst and 95% of the market, so if you're patient and disciplined some great buying opportunities come along. It's all one big competition so might as well make it as easy for yourself as possible. I do hope this 'delay' is just finalising a takeout, praying for a clean break my big worry here is they announce will be guts of a cash shell for the next year waiting for other results rather than clean takeout selling pretty much all IP (to either acquiror in reverse takeover or pharma) | holly_dog
07/6/2011 23:27 | GS, I like that thread, dont get me wrong but I dont think they appreciate my slightly (managed) dangerous streak as I like to call it which takes me to shares like this and CRND etc. I can agree with all of the reasons for not doing it but hey, I like to stick some profits into the wild ones, some you lose, some you win. Normally the winners are multiple baggers and the losers are probably 50% losers. I like those stats for the occasional punt. They definately dont but hey, thats just me, or should I say us :-) Still cant get balls to buy more here though. Got my maximum in already. Would like to see that RNS though, cmon guys what ya waiting for. | smith99
07/6/2011 19:41 | I like this snippet from the kestrel home page One of our core investment principles is to constructively engage with the management of our investee companies on a regular and pro-active basis. We believe that such a dialogue is essential in aligning interests and in bringing together the broad range of skill sets needed to refine corporate strategy and assist companies achieve their potential. We aim to create and release value in our investee companies over the medium to long term through partnership and collaboration. Do they know something... | drandika

03/6/2011 10:20 | Emailed Blain - keep calm and carry on in summary 'I was wondering if you could provide any guidance on the date from which the consultation period finishes, thereby allowing you to provide investors with an update? I had estimated that given you announced the consultation period on the 3rd of March, 90 days from that equates to the 1st of June, is this correct? If so would it be fair to say an update should be imminent?' 'In our interim results announced on 26 May 2011 we confirmed that we will update shareholders with our plans following the completion of the statutory consultation period. We also said that the consultation period ends in early June. So you are right to expect an announcement soon. We have not been specific on the date of the update but it will be issued in due course. Sorry I can't be more help.' | holly_dog
03/6/2011 07:57 | Annoying. Where's the rns. Suspect will be weak share price today | holly_dog |
