12/8/2008 18:41 | Give it a while longer and Serbia will be walking back into the territory stolen from them. You can bank on it. | loverat
12/8/2008 10:42 | Looks like Russia pulling back now so oil will be down again. | dumbarton2
11/8/2008 03:50 | In a War Office minute of 12 May 1919, Winston Churchill argued for the use of tear gas: "I do not understand this squeamishness about the use of gas." lucky it wasnt the Jews he was talking about....wouldnt be such a hero today. | 5un5hine
10/8/2008 22:29 | Wrong about that sunshine... Winston was not always holed up in his bunker. He made many risky trips abroad during the war (e.g North Africa, USA, Middle East etc). You also have to consider his earlier actions in the context of the times. Not a perfect human being by any means but he saved your bacon in WW11. He was a very funny man with some hilarious quotes and I like funny people. As for Russia - don't read too much into it. As you will no doubt disagree, perhaps you will name your hero and I will consider sticking him or her up there. Or perhaps he is already there? | loverat
10/8/2008 06:39 | greatest speeches made hiding in a bunker from the man who killed thousands of kurds using mustard gas ....long before saddam was even born. Russia puts Georgia in its rightful place? more like a stern warning to the israelis behind the pipeline conflict... | 5un5hine

08/8/2008 20:59 | Another great pilot... | loverat
02/8/2008 19:33 | call-logger Can you post any info about that young handsome pilot at the top? Is he related to you in any way? I am interested in ariel combat and was watching a programme about the Battle of Midway. Those American pilots were heroes, one of whom was responsible for destroying two Japanese Aircraft Carriers on his own. Time to revive my old history thread I think. | loverat
02/8/2008 19:27 | Well, despite many problems this country has - it is still great. Where else in the world would you get a high court judge dressed up like that. I particularly like the wig, tights and the shoes. We have some great traditions and institutions and have every right to be proud of them. Therefore Eady can stay up there for now. | loverat
27/7/2008 22:04 | Err - as mots posted 18 whilst I was typing 19 - for clarity's sake, I refer to the header photo. | esrimeur
27/7/2008 22:02 | If you study that photo of Mr Justice Eady long enough, concentrating especially on the lips, don't you get a sense that he is not that far away from PHSL? I know I do. | esrimeur
