11/2/2004 10:39 | it has an excellent track record.....and the UBS acquisition of laing and bang increases interest in these sorts of situation....this will move through 850p ahead of the figures as ...as you say.....its highly geared and tightly held! | worldcupwinner99
10/2/2004 11:37 | Although this firm runs some exciting unit trusts -like Special Situations it is primarily a discretionary funds business. Last year its profit margins slipped and the cashflow generated of £15mn was weaker than in the past possibly due to the effects of large acquisitions. Results will come out in early March and it is hard to guess what they will be- though I am an optimist here. The company has almost no paid up share capital and massive intangible assets (which amazingly it is amortising over 20 years) so the share price bounces quite strongly with sentiment though I would guess it is not traded very much. Do you buy shares with 91% gearing (excluding intangibles-81% allowing intangibles)? Only if you have seen the whites of the eyes of the senior directors I venture. | ben gunn
