I think it must be time to make a complaint to the Institute of Chartereed Accountants again.

Any suggestions anybody?

Got no positions in RAT lately. Always keping a distant eye on it though - upwards or downwards ;o)

Mentioned in today's Shares Mag – Brokers Tips - Finance Sector, Numis has RAT as a buy 900p target price "with a more stable and arguably better quality earnings stream"

gni is essential as is a good spreadbetter. I use IG daily bets which i rollover automatically. The spread's (1%) better or equal to anyone else including cmc d4f. So if your bet size is small they are cheaper than a cfd provider, but if you're trading bigger amounts the converse is true. Another advantage they give is that they quote down to £50m mkt cap.

Most of my shorting is via spreadbets by phone with cantorindex.co.uk, which is not how the more sophisticated players here would do it ;o)

So which stocks are you tipping to rise at present?

Well I didn't short them (!) but I've checked my records and sold them on 20 Feb at a very good profit....although I must say 900p now seems a long way off...not sure why now why I was so keen on 25 Feb! Maybe I was thinking about getting back in...

.. and next day it headed off downhill.
Scotty, you are my favourite shorting indicator ;o)

A great helterskelter, big dipper, rollercoaster stock, whether riding the upslopes or the downslopes. No prizes for guessing which I favour most ;o)

Just looked at RAT on L2 - at present it looks exactly like a SEAQ share, there are no orders, just MMs. Only difference from before is (a) fewer MMs (6 vs 8), (b) generally wider spreads (they were nearly all quoting 20p previously, now quite a few are wider), (c) smaller quote sizes (all used to quote 2k, now only one quotes 1k, the rest are in only 500 shares), and (d) of course, no Quote Changes available so hard to track MM moves.

To sum up, a real success story this SETSMM isn't it! :)

Good luck, MT - will watch with interest! Quite a few other stockbroker shares (CAY, ADN etc.) have been knocked recently, so think you may be OK. Just need to give a bit more latitude with it being SETSMM.....

Got a tentative little downbet on at 658. Not wholly convinced yet.

Yep. Affects all us feeble oldies.

Edit: I'm happier shorting RAT when it drops through it's falling 200ema, but a bit wary for now.

M.T. et al. - I have found RAT a much harder stock to trade successfully (whether long or short) since it went over to SETSMM. This also applies to most other ex-SEAQ stocks. May be just feeble old me, but does anyone else find the same?

It may be just a symptom with regard to the markets generally, however is anyone aware of any company specific problems.

The mass filter didn't work too well! It's a tough life having to read my posts telling you that DDD is going down and then it does! A bit silly starting a thread like this when you don't even filter me yourself. What a sad person you are.
