06/5/2009 12:40 | wad - You are right to be sceptical about QQ's policy of purchasing companies. Logica used to do this sort of thing and it proved to be an absolute disaster (Log share price is now 80 pence). But as you say lets hope that QQ knows what it is about. | selborne_edge
06/5/2009 12:30 | Another acquisition .$M40 for a loss making company which employs 75 people. I hope QQ kmows what it is doing. | wad collector

28/4/2009 19:10 | Well we're seeing some decent rises at last - hoping for plenty more as people realise how overlooked this stock is | mercury123
23/4/2009 14:01 | There seems to be a few holders with concerns about the share price at the moment. I have been a holder of this share in the past and sold out about a year ago. Recent news flow and directors buys prompted me to revisit the share yesterday. The fundamentals show a fall in profits and seem to be reflected in the share price fall. I did conclude that the price was oversold and was due to correct and started buying today. In my humble opinion the price is forming a base to rise from and the fact the share pays a 3% dividend can only be seen as a bonus. If the US markets correct from their recent rise then this stock will be seen a defensive and should provide capital gains in a declining market. Holders would be wise to add not sell in my opinion. 23/4/2009 11:02 | Come on folks - might be your last chance to get on board at such low prices (not that I'm ramping or anything!) Nice to see a little movement up at last | mercury123
23/4/2009 08:49 | guyz, good posts, since the director buy of 100k..all this has dne is go one way-DOWN!!! i for one am puzzled...it has underperformed the market in a big big way...and still brokers have BUY notes etc and price targets of well over 150p a share!!! i believe that even if it was at 200, it wud still be CHEAP! | revoc2
23/4/2009 08:44 | You make good points. However I think job mobility in the current climate is likely to be more limited than at other times. It still seems in an oversold position and has been massively under-performing the market as a whole - and I think this trend has begun to feed on itself. People are watching it and thinking there's no smoke without fire so the vicious circle down continues until eventually people find there is no significantly bad news - it is a well run company and start piling in again. That is what I'm waiting for but I'm fully invested now so no more top ups. Good luck to all | mercury123
22/4/2009 19:51 | Wage freezes may have unintended consequences: 1. Highly talented staff moving to competitor companies such as: Thales, BAE, Chemring etc. Research and Technology companies need to recruit and retain high quality staff, as their primary asset, given that their business is not supported by significant manufacturing capabilities. This action could serve to deter future recruitment and reduce the capability to compete in the marketplace, if too many expert consultants, scientists and engineers leave for greener pastures. 2. The strong possibility of industrial action. 3. The creation of uncertainty, in the mind of investors. If a company is taking this course of action and all its competitors are not, Why? It is a calculated gamble; on the one hand you may boost profits artificially and on a temporary basis, given that this behavior cannot easily be repeated, if the company wishes to have a long term future. If a company is simultaneously declaring increasing profits and a good order book, in its interim results, then this course of action appears perverse given the potential risks. | pseudosphere
22/4/2009 14:06 | well done merc....im thinking may do the same!!! waiting and seeing... | revoc2
22/4/2009 12:01 | Hope it works for you Sat - maybe you can turn it round for us! Topped up again at 1.255 | mercury123
22/4/2009 11:51 | I'm close to hitting the buy button here too Jules. | sat69
22/4/2009 11:45 | I may be wrong but all the brokers seem positive on this share with price targets of 1.75 being bandied about and I just can't see much downside from here. I'm certainly not selling and may buy more if it goes below 1.26. Good luck | mercury123
22/4/2009 10:13 | hi merc...u k? i see its down again!!!!! what the hell r they doin to this share? ive got half a mind to sell at a loss................ ur views appreciated... thanx ps....i agree in re to ur post on employee wage freeze-good idea. does it look as if there is a DOUBLE BOTTOM about to be made? | revoc2
22/4/2009 07:31 | Why is that something we should worry about? Sounds prudent to me as long as the UK employees can live with it - better than being made redundant | mercury123
21/4/2009 16:58 | QinetiQ have imposed a wage freeze for all UK employees, which is most unusual in this sector. Throughout the UK, despite the current economic situation, only 10% of employers have chosen to take this course of action. Further details can be found at: www.prospect.org.uk | pseudosphere
21/4/2009 12:53 | I have this sneaking suspicion that Darling is going to shaft the whole market tomorrow with a load more taxes .... | wad collector
21/4/2009 12:14 | Can't tell you that but it's become a trader's share varying between 1.24 and 1.35 so plenty of money to be made. It seems rock solid to me so not one I mind holding till it decides to find a more appropriate level. I hold a decent amount and am trading in and out with the rest making quite a nice return for little risk | mercury123
20/4/2009 12:59 | That link shows that 2 directors bought a couple of hundred shares as part of their incentive plan.Or am I missing a hidden microdot? last week; The Times Since the Ministry of Defence sold its remaining 19% stake last September, shares in defence electronics group QinetiQ have fallen by more than a third. The spectre of tightening US defence expenditure and troop withdrawal from Iraq has raised fears over demand for its gadgetry. And QinetiQ's US acquisition spree it has bought 14 companies in four years has left it with net debt of about £600m. At 139¼p, or eight times next year's earnings, the shares trade at a discount to a recently depressed defence sector. Buy. | wad collector
09/4/2009 09:47 | now price =128.5p. some USA stockbroker say "buy", price trage 160p but looking trade line, not sure? still down line at future? any news? | jdung
08/4/2009 12:21 | This is so strange - I continue to fill my boots at these levels - last lot got at 1.2545 but my boots are getting heavy and I'm going to have to pause and see what happens. Is someone short selling these or do we have a forced seller? Or is it that everyone has decided the world has no more need to defend itself now that Barack is making friends with Iraq? Short sighted - we still have the militant tendencies out there - we will still need to defend ourselves. One to lock away until the market sees sense but the constant decline with no comment from the company is getting a little unnerving - perhaps I'm just overexposed.... | mercury123
07/4/2009 11:54 | am i right in thinkin that mr graham luuuuv bought 100k of these at 141p only a few weeks back? phewwwwwwwwwww and what is it doing now? 127pish!!!!!! fall well overdone... | revoc2 |
