Buying & selling shares is an extremely low margin business, many now offer zero commissions (Freetrade etc). IG will never make proper money with share trading & very few convert from shares to CFDs. Its a distraction & poor allocation of resources for IG.

I have an IG account, and shares in Plus.
Didn't notice IG being down- I log in all day
and watch charts of my holdings and prospects,
but don't necessarily deal. What IG has that
Plus don't is buying and selling actual shares,
in both trading accounts and ISAs.

Results due very soon from CMX & IGG over the next week or two will set the tone for our performance & assuming they have continued to perform very well I would expect we will have also continued to outperform .1200p entirely possible next week but decisively above 1400p is more likely following results from our rivals & without a further very positive update marking the end of month 2 of Q2
As the commercial world tries to gear up for some sort of recovery market volatility is likely to continue

(Alliance News) - IG Group Holdings PLC suffered a mobile app and website crash on Thursday, the Financial Times reported.

The newspaper said the online trading platform's customers took to social media to express their anger after being unable to close their trades for more than an hour.

In March, some customers were unable to log in on a day of extremely volatile trading. Users took to Twitter after Thursday's crash to complain of disruptions that had been going on for "months".

Customers also bewailed long waiting times on phone lines or posted screenshots on Twitter of the group’s status update page, which showed a "major outage" across the entire system.



Shares in the FTSE 250-listed contract-for-difference trading provider were down 1.4% in London on Friday morning.

Peer Plus500 Ltd, in late April, said its customer trading activity has increased significantly, amid continued market volatility.

It highlighted strong financial and operational performance driven by a "significant" influx of new customers at an attractive cost and increased levels of activity from existing customers.

Plus500 said revenue from customer income in the first half was at record levels, adding that it expects further progress in the second quarter following an exceptional first quarter. The company's half-year runs to June 30.

It gets even worse for IG - they have platform problems again this morning.

Dreadful client service and the IT platform is clearly not fit for purpose. Rather than pay themselves big bonuses they should be investing in their legacy IT. What a mess.

"Investigating - We are currently aware of an intermittent issue where positions are not appearing on the platform. This is being investigated by our Incident team at the highest priority."
