Yeah. Get that. And you certainly do. Amazes me how you post so much info about so many companies on so many sites and so quickly. I for one certainly appreciate it.

Well, there is that :-)

I tend to use the above, as I'm often checking multiple companies.

Mister MD - a clickable link, it looks like they (GLG) reduced from 0.61% ----> 0.31%.

biddy74- I thought shorts closing could be the reason for the spike. But where are you seeing the latest data on this, I previously looked at this shorttracker site:

which says GLG at 0.61% in May ?

wba1 > it looks like you are in the money well done Sir the shorters are getting burned, and as the heat goes up so do the expensive exits up and away we go like a true phoenix in the air like a rocket 🚀

I see shorts reducing. GLG dropped significantly on Friday. Now down to 1.21% from 1.8%

I've been a fan of PHNX since 2013. In and out 7 times so far with a profit 6/7. Currently holding #8 and have a bail out price which we are fairly close to. Fund managers seem to be pretty snooty about the shares because in their view the company doesn't appear to be doing anything other than sweating assets. I'm all for that as long as they keep making a profit and pass it on to shareholders as dividends.

scruff, and others: in the unlikely belief my recent purchases may assist you they are thus:

12 June LGEN £10k bought at £2.2906 - 4342 shares
11 June RR £3k bought at £4.6304 - 643 shares
21 May ABDN £5k bought at £1.51297 -3285 shares
10 Apr RR £3k bought at £4.0323 - 739 shares

I had hoped to make a quick buck, well, £300 actually, on the ABDN purchase as the timing was fortuitous being just prior to the announcement of Bird's migration in winter. Didn't happen although I'm £10.52 in profit on the holding as I type. ;-)

RR is a holder for me. It's just going higher and higher constantly and at some point they will consider reinstating dividends once again.

LGEN is also a long-term holding as I want the dividends that come with holding 16,420 shares.

On the ABDN holding, I have twice made an approx. £250 to £300 profit on a £5k punt earlier this year. Between the constant downward movement of their share price there are occasions when it spikes up a little. I seem to be lucky - and that's all it is. Luck.

GLA.

It’s not making sense possibly because it’s a take over situation. If no news by 5pm then must assume it’s something else

Very few investors willing to take a punt ahead of elections.

Will go with what I have adding and selling where appropriate

But markets like my algos not making much sense at mom.

I will join them after a few more sherbets (not making sense)

Good luck everyone

Was thinking similar meself. Its really helps my investing strategy to know who has bought a few, sold a few, timed the market, mistimed the market ......etc ...etc...not.
If people only posted when they had meaningful information re PHNX it would make for pretty barren reading. Not much fun down the pub but it would be a nice quiet evening I guess if thats your bag

I don't try to "time the market" I set limit deals most days, if the trigger it's exactly what I wanted, if not then there's always another day.

Trying to time markets is profitable until it isn't.

Take over still looks a reasonable bet. The FTSE is ripe for action of deals and takeovers....

I fudged it and sold ~20% of my holding to lock in some profit.

I'll keep that money available for ~six weeks and see if we slide back in that period.

The most puzzling thing about Phoenix is the short position of Gladstone. Most analysts, including those of hedge funds, have as much understanding of life/pensions/insurance as I have of ancient Sumerian song cycles. But Gladstone is run by George Michelakis, who is an actuary and should understand the model. Given that volatile declared profits are largely a matter of mark to market fluctuations on assets matching liabilities and to be held to maturity the only thing that really matters with Phoenix is free cash flow and discounted lifetime value - both of which are excellent and have solid forward visibility. It is odd but I am a LTH and am happy to bet against Michelakis on this occasion.
