Indeed; thanks kernel.

I looked at CSN in Jan 2024. I noted it was£2.6015 at 14:25 on 31 Jan.

Looking at the graph it spiked in April this year, otherwise it appears to be on a steady downward trend. I'm overweight on PHNX and LGEN as it is though.

Here's hoping but hedged a little with CSN and MNG on my PHNX sell
Was looking at LGEN but numbers didn't work out at the time.

Don t know what is behind ABDN think I might have sold to early but still expect dividend cut so that was my reasoning.

Think I'm better of staying out got a freezer to defrost

Have a good day

I wish you good luck there fizzy. Seriously. Did similar with ABDN but far smaller amounts.

Let us know if you buy back before ex-div.

Just sold my 10,000 share holding bought at £4.83 sold at £5.48 for a 13.25% gain or £6,200 in 4 weeks. Never wrong to take a profit. Still plenty of time to re-enter before Sept ex-div.

I think if you took a poll of the motorists on the M25, A3, M4 and M3 over 50% of them would say that expanding Heathrow is bonkers.
Alotto might be an exception to a more general rule..... Which is
in the internet age, and with AI there is less and less reason to travel for business reasons.
Less and less people want mass tourism in their towns.
But I am aware that others want to expand it all.
Migration (both tourists and workers) makes them loads of money and quality of life has no meaning to them.

The FT mentioned JUST as a possible takeover Bite sized and more pure play I suspect Suspect Brookfield given their infra investment capability's will be putting the hard sell into the government

I doubt Phoenix would benefit. They're probably only 5th or 6th in the BPA market, and whilst there's a lack of insurer capacity AT THE MOMENT given the rises in interest rates over the past couple of years meaning many more schemes have achieved buy-out status; more entrants to the market will generally:

- mean lower pricing is achieved by insurers;
- means less chance of organically expanding their market share in this market;
- means more pressure on other forms of capital generation.

Note that achieving PRA approval to do these deals is a massively high bar - the barriers to entry here are huge; between (1) PRA approval, (2) operational ability, and (3) the availability of sufficient assets at the required yields to support pricing. Capital itself used to be a big constraint but that's probably down at #4 on the list just now. And all that's before reputational risk - this sub-industry is one where having a track record of solvency and delivery really matters; you can't just buy business here with low pricing due to trustees unwillingness to put their policyholders at undue risk.

In summary - it's a really hard franchise to gain access to. Personally, I'm surprised Brookfield isn't looking at buying up one of the existing players - well, they were apparently looking at PIC but the price was too rich.

So no near term effects for Phoenix; but a mid-to long term mild negative. If Phoenix didn't have all it's massive heritage book then it might be more of a purchase target for someone wanting to buy into a BPA-capable writer.

Interest in pension buyout increasing. Brookfield looking to set up a new player, Utmost applied and waiting for approval.Tidbit is that there have been PE players and other players circling this market, looking for opportunities. Wonder if Phoenix might benefit.

I hope that former pension minister Steve Webb's assessment and hope's of a period of stability for pension's policy prove to be correct.
