EH9 you've previously been guilty of speculating on events that haven't happened e.g. The BT partnership. I suspect you may be speculating on the T U.
I expect the TU to be good- quite possibly an ahead statement- but beyond that I wouldn't want to comment.

Yes - so we've had the belated reporting of shorters reducing their shorts. Circa 5.5 million shares bought back.

To summarise:

Paysafe have so far bought 125,000 shares at average of 358.9 and highest price of 360.5 - so this informs that they consider these prices to be attractive at which to buy, and prices at which they will buy more.

The cost of the 125,000 shares was £448,620, ie under half a million, and they have allocated £100 million to buy up to a maximum of 48.1 million shares. So the buying so far amounts to little more than a statement of intent/ a shot across the bows of shorters.

The total number of shares in issue is 491 million, so the 48.1 million they have declared willing to buy (provided it amounts to no more than £100 million) represents just under 10% of the total number of shares. (I suppose there are regulations restricting them to this share buy back figure, anyone???)

FCA Short disclosure spreadsheet has now updated with correct version. For comparison I have shown the shorters position on 12 December ie pre release of the dodgy shorters' report

The scores on the doors are:-

.........................................Current .........................Pre dodgy report
AEK ................ ..................2.88% ............................3.13%
Public Equity Partners ............1.9%........................... 2.12%
Oxford Asset mgt................... 0.6% ............................0.5%
Sand Grove ...............................0............................... 0.72%
Total ......................................5.38% ............................6.47%

Last reported changes since release of dodgy report on 13 December were:-

20/12 Public Equity increase by 0.01%
19/12 AEK decrease by 0.25%
19/12 Public Equity decrease by 0.11%
16/12 Oxford asset mgt increase by 0.1%
16/12 Public Equity decrease by 0.12%
13/12 Sand Grove decrease by 0.72%

Bit disappointing considering nearly 5mil shares traded today but I guess a bit of profit taking after the last couple of days rise, hopefully PAYS will be a bit more bullish with the share buy backs tomorrow and get this back on track. Once over 3.80 with a bit of support this should fly!

Is the likely purchase of Sage pay just a speculation or is there any substance to it?

Yes, the more they can dilute the revenue/profit for the largest merchant, the better methinks.

They may be buying Sage pay so that would be far more shareholder value creative than a dividend

As well as share buy back would it not be a good idea to use some of the money to pay a dividend !!!!
Might stop the shorters more as they would have to pay up for that ?

Special loans can attract a commission rate of up to 200 basis points. Not been involved in lending for a couple of years but I would expect PAYS to attract a premium commission rate.
