Portfolio -0.19% , fallers BATS, ABF, MKS, SGRO, IMB HLN.......gainers HILS, NICL, RS1 , WTB.

+0.81% on the week , making +7.03% YTD

Sun came out at midday and 18C in no time at all. On with the shorts and out in the garden with the leaf blower .

QPR v Pompey tomorrow , a real six pointer with two of the bottom three. Plan on seeing the film 'The Apprentice' at the cinema. Hike on sunday may be postponed if the weather forecast turns out to be true.

Just heard on BBC radio4 that North Korea are sending troops to help Putin.

Dr B , good luck with your tennis.

Lasagne , salad and a bottle of malbec tonight.

Good weekend everyone.

Flat day today in the end but a good week, largely thanks to the managed funds. +1.67% on the week so now +8.34% YTD which is a year high in terms of percentage but down a bit on value after my cash withdrawal. A couple more weeks like that and I could reach a new all time high!

Hoping to get to the woods tomorrow afternoon if the weather eases as promised, a bit of chainsawing to do. Tennis Sunday morning, weather permitting.

Enjoy your weekends.

Looks like I'll be down more than I went up yesterday. Tennis this evening away so will try and update tomorrow, but looks like a flat week overall. Could be a damp weekend.

Skinny, the early cars had that horrible parking assistant system which nobody ever used anyway, and I think that was actually removed before MY21. The main things I was referring to on cars later than MY21 would be HUD, 360° cameras, memory function to passenger seat and one or two other things which still haven't made it back on new cars as standard. So if you particularly wanted the parking assistant, yes you would have to go for an earlier model but you would lose out on other benefits such as the later infotainment system, slightly higher AC charging, more reliable 12V battery (earlier cars had two and the smaller one can be a pain when it fails). It is my personal view (and many others) that MY21 HSE is the sweet spot and that's really why I haven't changed mine.

MrP, re the I-Pace I've had a quick look.

Your says that you would go for a 2021 model year HSE - intimates that the 2021 spec HSE had a reduced specification?

Yes, welcome scottishfield.

MrP - motorists are a captive audience - pure and simple.

Petrol back to 130p a litre here after 126.9 last week.

They need to stop treating EV's as an alien species, they are a car the same as any other, just happen to use a different fuel. Any "car tax" needs to cover all types of vehicle. If they want to do road pricing then dump fuel duty and do it for ALL vehicles. You can't claim to be taxing based on emissions if you then find other ways of taxing vehicles that don't emit! Are they going to think of something else for vehicles that run on Hydrogen or Chicken sh*t? Same rule for all is the only way.

Morning everyone and welcome scottishfield.

Still misty and chilly here, no sign of the promised sunshine yet,

Portfolio quite red.

Quiz = 2/7 , I knew the football question.

My wife and I have all our equities ISA'd up now.

Still foggy here but otherwise dry.

Have topped up on AGL this morning. They owe me a fair amount but I just thought they can't be too far away from a positive announcement, they seem to have a spike every six months or so!

Seems to be a lot of speculation about. Not sure an 8 year old article is a pertinent source of information but the Telegraph isn't what it used to be. Clicks over substance.

Not sure how that would work, given the ups and downs of the market. Restricting the amount you put in over a lifetime may be the only way - given the cap has been lifted off pensions it sort of makes sense. £726bn sounds a lot - but it is only about £10k per person and the interest on that would be below the tax threshold anyway. Obviously huge variations within that. I have planned on having a tax free pension with my sipp paying less than the tax free threshold and most of my income from my ISA, so I'll have a keen eye on that.

Good morning all . Thank you for the welcome. Dull, gusty winds and rain, heavy later, here. 13 degrees. A reasonable week here after a few weeks of up and down, mostly down. But do things seem a little more positive generally? Once budget is out of hhe way it might be a better investing climate? Mmm

Morning 3/7 quiz, dank and misty .

ISA allowances, to start with it wasn't enough, then I filled my boots, now it has naturally evolved so don't use it fully.

4/7 for me.

Currently my portfolio tool is showing -0.8% seems to be a lot of wide spreads this morning that haven’t yet closed. Normally takes 20mins so it’s a touch unusual.

Looks like IHT will be a target. Something I have a mixed opinion on. Perpetuates inequality but seems brutal at the same time.

Usual 2/7 for me this week, guessing back on track!

Not a great start, looking like being pretty even on the week.

Retail sales beat expectations due to back to school spending? That's August, not September. Maybe they mean the cold weather saw everyone going out and buying new winter coats for their kids, like we did for No.1. A decent one is not cheap and he's in adult sizes now so it sure boosted our spending!
