21/4/2017 17:56 | A good week for small caps. +0.5% 0n the day +2.5% on the week and +5.7% YTD. When is the Ateca due Skinny? Must be about now. Its on my list so interested as to how you get on.Still seems to be getting good reviews. High pressure jetted the polytunnel today and reordered heated greenhouse so everything looks a lot better. First tomatoe set. Plums and pears look to have set well and most apple trees in blossom. Just hope next weeks frost isn't too severe. Enjoy your weekends. S | shadowside
21/4/2017 17:55 | Thanks Skinny! And well done on your YTD figure, you've obviously avoided the worst of the last few weeks! | mrphil
21/4/2017 17:30 | My SIPP finished up 0.11%, -1.24% on the week and is +5.54% YTD. Enjoy your weekend, especially Sunday MrP! | skinny
21/4/2017 16:15 | freddie, sad to see another well known and respected business being taken overseas Not familiar with Ithaca, but sad all the same | mrphil
21/4/2017 16:08 | Poor day. I note the loss of WS Atkins and Ithaca Energy. | freddie ferret
21/4/2017 15:53 | Well it's been a pretty poor week for the SIPP which looks likely to have lost around 2% on the week. But then this volatility was only to be expected I guess, and no doubt we'll be seeing a whole lot more. On a contrary note, just sorted out the staff bonus after our excellent first quarter so they should be pleased. Rounded it off with an additional small top up into the staff social fund as they are currently planning a couple of trips. | mrphil
21/4/2017 11:08 | 5/7 for me. One or two good guesses. +9°C this morning, with cloud cover. It is brighter, but the sun is still elusive. DF | deanforester
21/4/2017 10:14 | SIPP now down £0.34 on the day :-( | mrphil
21/4/2017 09:26 | A pretty impressive 3/7 for me this week, and I knew one of them! SIPP currently up £74 on the day, will this be the first positive day this week? | mrphil
21/4/2017 08:36 | Good Morning. 5/7. | skinny
21/4/2017 08:32 | Morning All. Out all day with the grandkids yesterday so didn't get to study the screen which is just as well as I see it was another down day! Enjoyed Winchester Science Centre but to be honest they would get more out of it from about age 6 upwards. Went to Hillier Gardens afterwards and they probably enjoyed that more - the cake was certainly better! Weather was fine so we took a gamble and used the Leaf. Round trip of 52 miles and, avoiding motorways where possible, we had 20 miles left when we got back home. So that's a range of about 70 miles of careful driving on a 6-year old Leaf with one bar of the battery capacity now gone. | mrphil
20/4/2017 20:53 | -0.08%, [FTSE250 -0.2%] Highest value risers : SDV +2.1%, CSN +1.5%, BMS +3.4%. Worst fallers : BA. -1.9%[xd], ESP -2.6%, BRSN -1%. Overcast most of the day, not looking much better for 1st home CC match at Trent Bridge, starting tomorrow. | blueliner
20/4/2017 17:51 | I'm down -0.165% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.056%). Worst falls: KGF -1.94%, WMH -1.82% and BA. -1.7% XD. Best rises: PSON +1.46%, RIO +1.24% and CPG +0.67%. Looks like most of my shares missed the late rise. +4°C first thing with a layer of cloud above the inversion layer. Soon burnt off, but about +12°C was the best it got to. DF | deanforester
20/4/2017 17:08 | -0.1%. A damp but mild start this morning. Dry, warm and bright this afternoon, if very little direct sunlight. 18.7C. | aleman
20/4/2017 17:07 | No bad thing that, labour market was getting tight drawing in more migrants etc. | freddie ferret
20/4/2017 13:11 | After the ONS removed claimant count from the employment report in February, I've only just discovered that clamant count had its biggest rise for 6 years in March. The rise was 25,500 against a consensus forecast of a fall of 10,100. | aleman
20/4/2017 08:44 | Good Morning. My SIPP finished up 0.08%. | skinny
20/4/2017 08:39 | First opinion poll after annoucement looks pretty solid at 48/24 Con/Lab. UKIP dropped quite sharply. In marginal constituencies I would have thought any Brexit UKIP supporters are likely to vote Conservative out of self interest. So far so good. Corbyn seems to be trying to take a leaf out of the Trump playbook as the anti establishment candidate. If he wants to do that he better lock Thornberry away somewhere as she is establishment squared. | shadowside
19/4/2017 18:28 | Better couple of days for me as I'm mainly in small/mid caps and have no miners, oilies etc.Have made about a percent in the last couple of days so now at +5.2% YTD which I think is a new high. I think May is right to steer away from TV debate. When there were 3 parties jockeying for position it made sense but now it would be everyone against May with SNP bleating on about Independence and Corbyn explaning how he was going to solve all the problems by spending buckets of money.Best to leave them to it. Germans seem to have an interesting take on solving their trade surplus. Euro is too weak for them and too strong for everyone else so their plan is to strengthen it. Solves the German problem and destroys the rest of the Continent. Sounds familiar? | shadowside
19/4/2017 18:03 | Sorry to hear about the "fair Jennie" DF, but hopefully Laura will be a good replacement! | mrphil
19/4/2017 17:40 | I'm down -0.240% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.464%). Worst falls: RDSB -2.73%, S32 -1.98% and DGE -1.92%. Best rises: TW. +2.37%, LLOY +2.35% and KGF +2.19%. So the oils have fallen and the miners stabilised, except for S32 who have decided not to buy an Aussie Mine. Some useful rises. I have found out that my favourite dental hygienist has suffered a brain haemorrhage, survived but has some after effects. A great shame, because she was not that old, 50 maybe. Her replacement, Laura, is very good. The election vote was easily won, so it is all go. Going to sleep for two years might be a good option. DF | deanforester
19/4/2017 17:40 | +0.06% for the Folio. [FTSE250 +0.62%]. Highest value risers : ALT +24.2%, BRSN +2.5%, CSN +1.9%. Worst value fallers : CLIG -2.9%, NG. -1.7%, GSK -1%. FTSE250 failed to ignite my shares, am just sitting tight now. Cause for celebration even after the ending of a fine run of home results on BH Monday, Notts C are mathematically safe from being relegated into National League. Season ticket renewed today. | blueliner
19/4/2017 17:34 | Perhaps I should say that today is the first day in a fair while that my lot have shown a decent performance. | freddie ferret
19/4/2017 17:33 | LibDems are being strongly talked up by the BBC since they were and are strong remainers. The reality is that they are only on 12% in the polls only slightly ahead of UKIP (currently in restructuring with changes being put in place for such things as the constitution ie fundamentals) currently on 10%. As I say, expect to hear a lot more about the LibDems from the BBC. | freddie ferret |
