13/10/2016 09:24 | Morning All. Didn't notice any empty shelves at TSCO, but maybe we weren't looking for any Unilever products. I applaud their efforts to control prices for their customers, but what are suppliers supposed to do if their profits are getting wiped out? If I ignore the current fall in the pound, we would make a loss this year without doubt. Enjoyed the first episode of Missing last night, sowed a few seeds for future episodes. Pleased to see my recently topped up UU. are fighting hard against the fallers this morning. | mrphil
13/10/2016 09:22 | Good Morning. My SIPP finished down 0.18%. Both down 2.2%. | skinny
13/10/2016 07:43 | And £ down again. $1.216. Euro 1.104 | aleman
12/10/2016 17:03 | Tomato going pink, have started to take the plant undercover at night. | freddie ferret
12/10/2016 16:59 | Reversal of yesterday with almost the same movers, SIPP -0.52% SPD, LLOY & GSK and the pot -0.79% AMD, RR. & LLOY Just had the two new tyres fitted. Persuaded Halford's to match the lowest price so got both fitted for £340 all in. Been lovely and sunny one minute, rain the next (none forecast) so a strange old day. Start of The Missing tonight after a trip to TSCO to use up the next voucher. | mrphil
12/10/2016 16:53 | Stronger £ overnight took my lot down 0.8%, although the £ already starting to drift again slightly. Grey day and drizzly earlier. 13.8C after 8.3C. | aleman
12/10/2016 09:57 | Encouraging trading update from TEF this morning, with talk of an increased dividend! | mrphil
12/10/2016 09:44 | £ hit $1.21 and Euro 1.095 overmight, before bouncing back to yesterday's levels. | aleman
12/10/2016 09:01 | Skinny, I won't divulge any secrets then! | mrphil
12/10/2016 08:38 | Actually the screen has settled slightly the right side which was a surprise as there seemed to be a lot of red about first thing. | mrphil
12/10/2016 08:08 | Morning All. And back down it all goes! :-( Didn't like the conclusion to National Treasure. | mrphil
11/10/2016 17:02 | Trouble is I like to keep all four the same so whenever I need just two I end up having to get the same tyres to complete the set! Aleman, I know what you mean and I certainly wouldn't have chosen 20" but they were fitted from new and I must admit looked stunning when I bought the car at just a few months old. Have toyed with the idea of dropping down to 18" but these do handle fantastically well and the price is getting more realistic each time I change them. All fell away towards the close but thankfully still ended comfortably up, helped by some lucky recent buys and top ups. The SIPP managed +0.36% on the day with newcomer SPD the top riser and helped by newly topped up LLOY and closely followed by TATE. The pot lagged a bit but still managed +0.19% thanks again to LLOY with help from FDI & SGC The light in the shed failed whilst I was in the middle of some woodturning last night, so I had to fumble around and pinch a tube from the garage. Must remember to take a new one home! Conclusion to National Treasure this evening. | mrphil
11/10/2016 16:50 | Best fitted price is - I suppose it depends if the extra £20 is worth the effort. My SIPP finished down 0.10%. | skinny
11/10/2016 16:42 | 20 inch rims!? What are you trying to compensate for? :-) +0.6%, helped by £ hitting new lows again the last hour. Most of my stuff up a bit. Bango continues to climb since news it should need no more cash to reach profitability late next year. TCN didn't budge when I thought the trading update might have been good for 10-20%. So it goes. 5.8C last night then a cold drizzly wet day. We managed a 15.3C high somewhere along the line when the sun popped out briefly in the early afternoon but 11-12C was more typical. | aleman
11/10/2016 16:39 | Skinny, they are share price SPORT MAXX (J) 255/35 ZR20 | mrphil
11/10/2016 16:14 | MrP - I don't know exactly what tyres you have, but you can get the likes of Dunlop share price SPORT 01 MFS 235/50VR18 for £273.40 for 2. | skinny
11/10/2016 15:59 | Ouch. I've never paid over £80 for a tyre even though I don't buy budget brands. I never let them get low, though. I think it's not worth it for road safety and the increased risk of getting a flat from road debris. I presume they are not fitting panels on all new-build homes because they are already struggling to buffer supply and demand. Producing all that solar is fine if it is being used. Trouble is it would be produced in the middle of the summer, when everyone is in the park and the heating is off, and there is none on a freezing foggy day in winter when it's most needed. Until they work out a decent buffer, increasing more variability into supply is asking for winter power cuts. You could force every solar buyer to buy a battery to store power until needed - but that doubles the cost of the system and the batteries will need replacing every now and then. Then it becomes like the cars - the energy needed to make the batteries eats into the CO2 savings over conventional generation. What they need to do is use green electicity to electrolyse water to produce Hydrogen and then use that to generate extra at peak demand. Better still, use our gas network to distribute Hydrogen around the country and you can then fill your Hydrogen-powered car anywhere - no need to destroy the planet getting metals for batteries. They could maybe even use Hydrogen tanks in vehicles as part of a buffering system if you plug them in routinely when you get home. ( It would probably need a small compressor to raise pressure to refill the tank, though.) | aleman
11/10/2016 15:56 | XF in for service today and they have reported the rear tyres are near the limit so I need to decide whether to finish wearing them out in the Lake District or change them first. Ought to be the latter really, and I see Halfords now do a good deal at around £184 each which is still a lot but they were £340 each for exactly the same tyres when I first bought the car! | mrphil
11/10/2016 14:31 | Aleman, as I have said many times, why on earth aren't we forcing developers to integrate solar pv panels into the roof of every new house being built? Surely that must be a good start? At least then, many electric cars will be charged via solar as my Leaf is, thereby reducing overall emissions drastically. | mrphil
11/10/2016 14:24 | Only managed 1.1092 on a few euros I was forced to buy! | mrphil |
