What’s that got to do with NG.

There are special forums for political keyboard warriors, this isn’t the place.

This bb was and is administered by Bountyhunter to facilitate discussion relating to investments in NG, ie 'likeminded' investors that actually hold assets in the Company.

I along with many have found information provided by Uty to be very informative, evenly balanced and respectful.

There are a few posters, many of whom have changed their 'username' to try and convince readers that their views are fresh and new, but in actual fact have an agenda and/or have bitter views not related to the intention of this bb.

Posts by those in the 'Know' ie, Uty, Pierre, Bounty and many others are most welcome. This is a well administered bb, far better than some others, where some posters do not use investment forums for the reasons intended. Let us please maintain the standard which we have enjoyed on this bb for many years.

Pierre I agree with the advice you offered Uty.

UTY, i don't think it's best to respond.

If you do, this thread - one of the few remaining decent ones around advfn, will spiral down like all the rest. That's partly what he wants.

UtyINV,

You posted 3 times.
Are you trying to convince yourself?
I have no doubt that there are investors here who see Utility and Dividend but have not researched the Business in detail.
We have researched the business in depth and what is apparent is that NG. buy debt riddled businesses and sell some of them on for more than the purchase price.
However they are keeping the debts and rolling them up.
So the Debt is increasing at the same pace as the share price
Whilst there is so much (misplaced in our opinion) confidence the share price is going to fall only very slowly.
However once it breaches the 1000p level it will gather momentum.
If it does reach an oversold position there may well be another short term trading opportunity to make gains from the subsequent rise.
For information, no postings here can affect the share price of a multi billion Utility company but I thought the idea of these forums is to share different views so that we can help each other?
Good luck with your own investment decisions.

For Long Term less risky investors when Utilities aren’t performing well financials are. Usually.

With the Fed and BoE indicating interest rate rises, underperforming financials could easily offset any disappointments seen in other sectors. All the while, just enjoy the ride and take the dividends.

BTW many shareholders who can’t subscribe to Scrip Dividend offer will be reinvesting their dividends on 19th Jan.

Divi in less than two weeks time, then usually the trend is up as we go into the second half run up to finals in May. Most of income is generated from second half.

We are in unprecedented times so normal
cycles don’t alway play out, but usually the trend is up between Feb and May.

If it doesn’t, so what, Final Divi expected to be announced in May ( paid in Aug) of approx 33p / share

Elena,

It was obvious that you were ‘Shorting̵7; the stock. Whatever you post on here isn’t going to influence the market.

In answer to the WPD acquisition, if Shorting you need to do your homework. NG is selling the UK Gas Transmission business (its heavily regulated with little uptrend prospects). They will hold a stake but looking at mixing Hydrogen into the equation.

WPD have been actioned with installing millions of EV charging points.

As for standards, NG has got a track record of buying businesses that aren’t run as well as they could be, improving them and then selling, not that I expect NG to sell WPD as there is much work to benefit from.

Oh and by the way the Gas sale is well underway 😉

The run from 900 mid October to recent highs just below 1100 is very impressive in the current climate. As I've previously stated I sold out at 1052 ( bit early but that's life). We are now back at 1050 and in a down trend so I like many others will be looking for the trend to turn and an oversold position to get back in. Watching and waiting.

Looking at the chart here the share was well overbought.
The correction is well underway.
I will be adding to my "Short" position here on the way down.
I am not an enthusiastic Shorter unless there is a compelling argument against the particular share.
Western Power will prove to be another burden on the investment here.
How was this aquisition financed?
By increasing debt of course!
Western Power have a lot of infrastructure that does not meet National Grid Standards.
They are "sub standard".
This has risen on a lot of "Blue sky thinking".
I will be buying at 800p.
Good luck to all holders.
For those who are brave enough to buy more at such elevated levels just try to imagine who will be "selling" you these shares? :)

NG has also the intellect to make money. They bought Crown Castle for £1 billion and sold it a few years later for £4billion. How much unregulated business is NG investing in? Think of the unregulated aspects of WPD business ie EV charging points

I think Elenor is someone who is politically motived in a certain direction.

Why else would someone throw negativity after many posts of reassurances regarding the reasoning for the Company’s debt?

On the subject of debt (which during times of mass inflation would be eradicated - £1billion today may seem like £1million in ten years time), one must question whether the books truly reflect the situation. Eg how does NG get its income and on what basis is the Net Asset value calculated, bearing in mind customers bills would be adversely affected if the true Net Asset value was recorded.

As I have mentioned earlier, Tesla which produces cars and also have many competitors has a market value of £1.1 Trillion and National Grid who has Assets in the UK, US and Europe has a current Mrkt Cap of only £36Billion.

The point being made is that NG has been told to raise Debt by the regulator and NG’s Assets are not correctly recorded too. All part of the mathematical manipulation of reducing bills.

How much of NG is regulated? There is also a difference in terms regarding regulation in the US and the UK.

In the US utilities operate on a more even playing field where ROE is much higher than here where the regulator’s main objective is to reduce customer’s bills even though they are artificially set low and not sustainable.

In the US bills are kept fair but Companies providing essential services are also encouraged to invest and maintain reliability and security. Where business and investment are not dirty words, where the philosophy of capitalism is used in harmony to provide benefits to customers.
