Red... Re the 10,000 tonnes (suspicion)

From several sources - rather like the Chinese...

Back in 2009, they reported 1,054 tonnes (how accurate was that?)

They've been buying from DRC/Ghanaian artisanal miners, with Chinese who went to these countries to look for Gold at the reported rate of 40 tonnes per month (Byron King of King Capital, and Agora Finance fame) - over 5years? How many tonnes?

They've been importing through Hong Kong in increasing amounts - over 120tonnes in some months, 100 tonnes in others. (several sources)

They've been buying from Russian miners at the rate of 2-3tonnes per month (source Weiss Ratings)

Jim Rickards spoke to a Chinese General, who told him he was at the head of a column of Chinese Tanks, taking Gold to Shanghai. How many tonnes?

They've bought dozens of largish/medium sized Gold miners, and buy the doré at spot prices in the last 6yrs - amounts unknown.

They've been buying from London - via Switzerland's refiners - cnverting 400oz bars into .9999% Gold into 1Kg for the Chinese market. Operating 24/7

They bought Number One Chase Plaza, with a Gold storage facility that allegedly connects to the N.Y. Fed vaults, five storeys underground, which is anchored to the base rock, and is bomb proof.

Perhaps they want to store some rice noodles there?

Open your eyes, and take a long, look...

Some think, 10,000 tonnes is on the low side.

Jim Willie reckons they might have as much as 20,000 tonnes...
(Me, I'm not so sure) but until I know better, I'm playing safe...

W.

Company is in the best condition it has been for years.Markets not attributing much value to us, but people behind the scenes know the true value.Fair play to Kaala for making it difficult for Ning & Co. to force their way in.I trust he'll have a plan.

It all seems a bit unnecessarily messy. Let's have some transparency please. Or are we asking to much of Africans ?

Where did you get the theory of 10,000T from for China's holdings? You think they've added 9,000T in 6 years since their last declaration?!

There's a lot of theories flying around on Ning. I haven't seen anyone float the idea that he might just be under financial stress and has actually been forced to sell them.

Either way lets hope we find out who purchased the shares soon and the relationship between them and Ning, to remove the uncertainty.

The Chinese are overdue a declaration of their gold reserves. 10000 tonnes would be a good ballpark figure. When we know this figure we can read between the lines of what today's rns is about. Ws, I think you're not far away from a scenario that could play out. Gold has to become more valuable than the paper stuff again and the Chinese are potentially perfectly placed to take advantage of this.

fascinating conspiracy theory! : ) ever considered writing a book and getting Tom Clancy to "front" it?

Interesting theory though regarding someone trying to get something on the cheap.......if there were to be a bid at the last serious high ( about 6.5p - just before news of the death at the beginning of 2014 I think it was ), I'd be quite happy to take their offer...... : )

It's clear from the RNS that MWAana don't believe that he no longer has control over the shares that he has "sold".
Looks a bit of mess, and a very annoying distraction.

In my humble view (FWIW) this smacks of a clandestine operation to get control of the business, via unorthodox means.

Imagine a scenario...

It's 20th October 2015, the IMF meets, and formally announces the creation of SDRs. (Special Drawing Rights)

These SDRs WILL include Chinese Yuan/Renminbi in the basket of currencies held in reserve.

Dollar falls precipitously - all other currencies rise in relation to $s.

Gold makes a BOLD move north to let's say circa $1500 (for round numbers)

Several days later - 25th, China announces it's Gold holdings (by my guesstimation/inference from many sources - 10,000tonnes)

Gold makes a run North - this time to $2,000.

Gold on the Shanghai exchange, priced in Yuan, is now Ɏ10,000/toz (Yuan has strengthened to the dollar - $1:Ɏ5...from its current ~6.5.

WTI and Brent-Crude Oil rises, priced in dollars exceeds $100 for first time this year.

Gold Buying now by several Central Banks, and others on open markets as inflation rocks markets, and major falls in most Stock Markets.

Gold Price moves towards $3,000,/Ɏ15,000 over next few trading days...

Dollar falls further - $1:Ɏ4, £1/$2.00...

Gold is being chased up by markets as short covering causes meltdown for some Big Hedge Funds.

Stock Markets worldwide fall circa 20% - Electronic Trading Brakes applied - markets close for stability's sake.

Forex markets are all over the place - Swiss Franc climbs to new high on international markets - €1.0/0.50 CHF

Chinese population now with stronger currency (and most have some gold) begin buying up stock markets around the world, and PMs in particular...

Believe it or not, Indian Rupee strengthens somewhat too. (Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal and Ireland have interest rates circa 8% as the Euro gyrates. and they seek help from Eurozone/Troika)

Germany decides it is better off out of the Eurozone, as ECB attempts rescue of €...

In the meantime, our oriental investor has sold almost half his 29% to another Chinese owned institution, who stake builds between now and then to 29.9%,

Our existing investor also buys on the open market and gets back to circa 22%

Now these oriental investors between them, own 51% of the stock held outside Zim Gov't hands.

Mr Mugabe gets a new road built by Chinese contractors, and a nice fat retirement account.

MUgabe's selected heir takes over as Zim leader, and our Chinese investors take control by stealth.

Flight of Fancy?
Dream?
Paranoia?

Now this is a pure fanatasy, I hear you all saying.

BUT, the Chinese have been going around the world, buying Gold Miners, and sending the output back to China at $/spot prices.

How many companies have they bought? DOZENS...

WHY?

Because they want to protect their $1.4 trillion in reserves, and Gold is the only safe hedge. And in a world where Gold resumes its place as THE reserve currency/money for International Trade purposes, another undervalued junior with large reserves would make an enviable addition, especially as those Western Bankers/Governments just don't want Gold...

But they soon will, and then China will be in the driving seat.

Now isn't that a nice story? ;¬)

Pure fiction... Or is it?

W.

Parties acting in consort to allow Ning a voice at the AGM? Surely the AIM board will have something to say when the company bring it to their attention. I bet Ning never mentioned to the fellow board members that he planned a big disposal. All has a horrible smell of trying to secure something cheap. Any takeover (at these levels) would fall foul of Kalaa's significant holding, temp me at 10p though!

The buyers of the shares must declare their holdings at these %ages. Looks like someone somewhere has plans of which the board are not aware

Hi Cynical. It could be that dropping his holding means he is no longer bound by the shareholders agreement. These agreements typically restrict a large shareholder if they hold more than 20%.
I doubt that it is related to a takeover. Why would Ning sell out early at market if he thought a bid was coming?

does the agreement also exclude his offering his remaining shares to support a takeover? There is something going on here that someone doesn't want someone else to know.........bit Rumsfeld like......."known unknowns....and unknown unknowns"! ; )

Does anybody have any other theories apart from the possible preparation of a takeover ( hostile or otherwise )?

Ning can't vote at general meetings at the moment even though he has circa 29%.
Agreement was set up when they placed the shares.

By transferring the shares to some third party, they can vote on his behalf thus bypassing the agreement.(Mwana don't know who this person/group is at the moment and have asked for clarification.

Hence reports Ning went mad when he demanded a divi be paid at the general meeting but couldn't vote.

Doubt it will be anything to do with a takeover
