Metro Bank faces more turmoil over new risk chief [Palestine News Network]
The embattled high street lender Metro Bank has been hit by a fresh blow over the appointment of one of Britain's most experienced banking risk executives.

Sky News has learnt that Grahame McGirr, who has worked at Northern Rock, Barclays and the Co-operative Bank, left the company last week just days before he was officially due to become its interim chief risk officer.

The latest recruitment crisis to hit Metro Bank, which is being probed by the City and banking regulators over a 900m accounting fiasco that cast its survival into doubt last year, has emerged just two weeks after it appointed a permanent chief executive.

The precise circumstances surrounding Mr McGirr's two-week stint at Metro Bank were unclear on Wednesday.

Insiders say he had been lined up to formally replace Aileen Gillan, the lender's chief risk officer since 2013, on an interim basis from March 1.

A Metro Bank spokesman said, however, that he was "asked to leave" on 24 February after working there for just a fortnight.

Factor in a possible recession, increased bad debts and a flight to quality and all bets are off

That did not scare Bacal to acquire over 8 percent of the Bank... as a start

I guess the key question here is how are METRO going to stop loosing £360,000 EVERY SINGLE DAY without shutting down their banks? (They won’t do because their business strat is OK, not my words)

Metro Looses over £2.5 Million each and every week and seems to have no hope of a turnaround (top brass says Metro business strat is OK, ie: no new ideas whatsoever)..

Anyone?
Genuinely interested how they beat the downtrodden (trad bank) competition?!?

The panic of Coronavirus would seem a twinkle in the old eye, should a panic in respect of metro occur. Imo.
