03/12/2006 12:34 | I don't know from where MPH buys most of it's good from but if it's in the far east then they are saving a hell of a lot of money on the doller rate as in the far east they want dollers and our £ will soon be buying two doller to every one pound. At the start of 2006 one pound bought $1.73 thats a saving of 13% on what they buy. | dcd

01/12/2006 17:08 | Hardman reckon that they are "erring on the conservative side" when forecasting for the F/Y 2008! Ermm :- Brokers normally "err on the conservative side" so when they admit to it, then they are being doubly conservative!!!!!!! | ![]() dan de lion

01/12/2006 14:19 | 0o0 Simply using pre-decimal! Old 20p,22.5p and 25p and x 5.Historic major resistance @ 22.5p = 112.5p new money.Looking strong support @ 112.5p? Agree with you trading 110p-120p.Buy 110p-112.5p not sell. Would hope MPH trading 112.5p-125p with major resistance @ 120p clear to see on new money chart, until next move up.Simplistic approach, that's me = simple.lol! I had expected MPH to be trading 120p-130p.All comes to he who waits.Positive view MPH advanced from 100p & holding onto 12% gains. | ![]() lex1000

01/12/2006 13:59 | Lex Where do you get 112.5p from? I've looked at all the charting period options up to two years and I can not see anything of significance at 112.5. There is a lot of clutter around 100 and 110 then a bit less around 120 and 130. Personally I try not to rely too much on charts but I would guess MPH is now in the 110 to 120 range and some news that pleases the market (in the public domain or not) should put it into the 120 to 130 range. | 0o0

01/12/2006 12:38 | That Moda America search in full. If you go and get yourself a free login here: and look up Moda America LLC you will find two entries. One is NJ (New Jersey) with Tom Wallis as contact, one is NY (New York) with correct Moda address. Presumably set up so for tax etc reasons. Now the trading style of the NJ one is given as "G A V". Funnily enough I have come across them in connection with the Ungaro license before. And it ties up. If you look up GAV LLC you will see it trades as Emanuel Ungaro. Previously had a Calvin Klein license, which seems to have been sold about the time of the Moda deal announcement. Mentions of "bridge" collections abound, which I think is an americanism for "diffusion line". The companies are all privately held and the Moda (NY) to Moda (NJ) to GAV LLC trail leads to some guys called Andrew Grossman, Alexander Vreeland and perhaps Jay Schottenstein. So there you go, thats who they bought it from by the looks of it. Vreeland has boogered off to run D. Porthault the company mentioned in link I posted above (2313)!! Not sure what the residual bit of GAV is doing, but there you go, mystery seemingly solved. Probably would have been easier & quicker to ring up and ask!!! | momentos
01/12/2006 11:54 | Morning all very quiet once again awaiting more news and confirmation of the acquisition in the new year. Lets hope it something explosive to finally set these alight. Hardman quotes expenses of over 1million of which 500k was to create additional banking faccilities, perhaps for the new acquisition who knows. Two years revenue in one to launch the new brands and help the transition period, projected free cashflow of 6.6million this year and 5.6 million next and virtually debt free by year end 2008. The only question is how well will Ungaro be taken up? By the time this is known the price will reflect it so it all down to ones personnal risk profile. Having held as low as 65p before the Moda announcement I believe the risk is now substancially lower and the rewards alot higher, but as always dyor...........wbj | ![]() wbjunior
01/12/2006 09:04 | See. "Sideways is the new up" etc etc. BTW I was digging a bit further on Covarra, the previous employer of Tom Wallis, Moda President and seemingly the licensee of Ungaro around 2000. They appear to have got into financial difficulties in about 2001, although it seems to have dragged on for years. So how the license moved to Moda, whether a residual connection/ownership remained with Covarra or with GFT/USA when Marchpole acquired Moda and whether it was a distressed sale are unclear. There seemed to be a US joint venture set up between Covarra and GFT/USA in about 2000, indeed Wallis came from GFT/USA rather than Covarra. | momentos

30/11/2006 13:47 | AND no sign of Pingu's missing Moda Millions ......... (or his head for that matter) | momentos
30/11/2006 13:43 | Indeed. Looking good! When discussing the YSL loss the issue of a bumper finish never really came up. The company is effectively getting two years revenue in one this year, giving it breathing space to build its future. The signs are that it has prepared itself well. Dont think anyone did or has yet factored in this bumper year (looking back at prev yr forecasts, analysts did not). So full year EPS forecast is 22p vs 13p prev actual . And that is AFTER one offs inc 500k finance set up cost & brand investment. So it could have been, and still could be, even higher!! | momentos
30/11/2006 13:36 | Cheers Momentos Looks like my forecast of 62 million revenue this year is understated and my 2008 figure of 51 million overstated. I still think there may be a few surprises as far as revenue is concerned and I mean in a positive way. Thanks again ................appr | ![]() wbjunior |
