wbjunior - 'that silly RNS' did not shake me out... the interims did... just coincidence I sold on the day for 119 BEFORE the RNS... and no... forecast earnings for 2008 are not something we can agreee on... I think the market will assume a near wipeout of profits... anything more will be a bonus.

Perhaps the rns error did me a favour selling out at 116p last week!

Will be looking for another entry point.

Thanks guy sorry about the spacing, but are you in accordance with the forecast earnings for 2008? as it look ok to me at the minimum level, anything else is a bonus so no worries and holding firm...........wbj
Pingi I hope you manage to get back in after that silly RNS that shook a few holders out, along way to go yet inho

No. Any decent browser technology Microsoft have generally appropriated, copied or otherwise acquired so I see no need!

yes I know...the font type does not get carried across... but he will insert the correct number of '-' if he can SEE it in fixed width format in his word processor.

THINK about it...or try it.

Er, apart from it isnt HTML format on WP, hence the spacers.

Dont lose your head pingu!

wbjunior... your figures are all over the place... I suspect you prepared that offline in a word processor... offline drafting is best done in Notepad or if you do it in a word processor choose a fixed width font type such as courier.

Then what you copy & paste will be a closer match to your original.

Looking at the revenue streams and being prudent:

------------------- 2007-------- 2008
UK -------------- 45 ----------- 15
Europe ---------- 7------------ 11
N/America-----10 ------------15
Okaida-----------1---------------5
Gulf ---------------1-------------- 5

Total Sales--- 64 ------------ 51
EPS----------- 21.1-----------16.8

So accepting that 2007 is already in the bag, I believe that 51 million for 2008 is on the prudent side and would expect a little more. So at the minimum valuation we should be looking at arounf £1.70 and maximum £2.10 without any further news imho.........wbj

daverw, unprofessional & poor reflection on both MPH & SCAP.As you say water under the bridge. In hindsight favourable for me,also grateful to critisms directed at me on here contributing change of strategies.Bit of luck.No longer a holder of AHT, JKX, MPH, TFC, TLW et seq all which have gone down, continue holding CCT.Do not pretend to be a big player & do get things wrong example TFC.Maintain continuing interest in MPH.Good luck.

lex1000,
Still keep thinking MBO here.
Still cant work out with the amount of corporate
governance, nomads etc, that the Rns in question
could have been issued.(No rush to ammend it either)
Water under the bridge now of course but whose interests
were best served on that Friday evening, not the LTH.

I still think the share price is dependant on sentiment as much as fundamentals. Until a certain RNS awhile ago, sentiment was positive, since then negative. Everything that was good, results etc was ballsed up in one move. I believe we need quite a positive statement about something or other to
right the ship.

Time to consider sell was at or near resistance @ 120p.Stating the obvious looking @ 112.5p becoming rock solid support (as 100p once was);peeps selling @ 112p time will tell whether should be buying support not selling it & divi to boot?!

Total overhead expenditure has increased by 36%. This includes a full six months
for Moda America (2005: #nil) and continued investment in promoting the Emanuel
Ungaro and Ungaro Homme brands. Stripping out these two elements overhead
expenditure fell by 2% reflecting the company's ability to leverage higher
revenues from its relatively low fixed cost base. The company continues to
exercise tight cost control.

Mr market is feeling poorly today and marking down the price, he always gets gloomy before Christmas. Hardman's forecast of 15.7 for 2008 takes no account of an earnings enhancing acquisition that may surprise most investors. Dividend increase points to revenue streams being maintained imho.

Market pressed the sell button. In common with many others MPH is not immune, fairing well @ 112p-116p all things considered.Could be doing much worse in shares which have given back ALL gains.Adds weight or is it gravitas to consideration of top slicing a rising share.Would not want to see mid price currently 114 sliping below 112.5p.It should not but...Markets fickle.Hopefully perkier x'mas going into New Year.Eager to see figures S/S.No longer holder here always best wishes to everyone on this thread.

"in order for Marchpole to achieve our estimated 2008
earnings per share of 15.7p the company will need to
initiate some cost cutting"

15.7p would be an achievement for 2008... pity it won't happen.

They are going all out for revenue growth... hoping the profits will follow... I believe this will wipe out 2008 profits... probably 2009 as well.

Cost cutting... already cut back design staff for lots more salespeople...

Might buy back when we return to two digit territory.

new broker note from Hardman:
"At current share prices our comparator group for
Marchpole is now trading on an average 2008 P/E
ratio of 14.2x – this compares to Marchpole trading
on a 2008 P/E of only 7.5x earnings."

"On this basis we could increase our valuation for
Marchpole to 157p per share – however, given that in
order for Marchpole to achieve our estimated 2008
earnings per share of 15.7p the company will need to
initiate some cost cutting – we think it is more
appropriate to stay with a valuation range for
Marchpole of 137p to 157p per share."

Adjusted diluted eps of 21.2 (2007) and 15.7 (2008).

I continue to see shares I sold rise and some have doubled, hard to stomach at times, but a valuable lesson learnt, although very costly.
