Vb6, like you I use it for my holding. This has still to adjust for the cash return after consolidation. It will happen, but don't know when. Once it does, I'm buying more MRO,

By my maths, vb6 is actually worse off, based on a 170p price, but not by 13%.

Previous holding = 8000 @ 170 = £13,600
New holding = 7200 @170 = £12,240, plus distribution of 8000 x 15p = £1,200 for a total of £13,440.

Difference, -£160, or a bit under 1.2% loss.

You still own the same proportion of the company that you held previously, and will receive 1200 pounds as well, I don't see how you feel you're losing out.

My trading platform has now updated.I had 8000 shares. I now have 7200 shares. I expect to receive 8000 x 15p equals 1200 pounds. At yesterdays price the 800 shares that have been cancelled are worth 800 x 170p equals 1360 pounds.I feel around 13% rippped off.

There giving you 15p a share. Your value of your investment will remain.
If you don't need the money, drip feed it back on a monthly basis with your Platform. I'm with EQI so I'll just set up a monthly purchase on MRO unit the proceed are used up. It is a cost effective way of reinvesting the money.

My trading platform, ii, still shows my original number of shares.Feeling a little bit diddled. They're taking away shares that, today, are priced at 170p but are giving me 150p per share.

Thanks ursus and yertiz for your thoughts on this.

Not quite yertiz.

Using vb6's example -

If you own 1000 shares pre consolidation, then after you will have 900 shares plus £150 (ie the 15p per share returned on the pre consol 1000 shares). The reduced number of shares you then hold - ie 900 - have the same share in the company's capital as the 1000 shares previously had, because of the capital reduction by consolidation.

After the consolidation date you will own 9/10ths of the shares originally held, plus cash to the value of the shares involved in consolidation, plus an additional 15p. Simples.

I am probably thick. However, if we had 1000 shares do we end up with 900 shares or do we get 1000 of the new shares.Yours Confusedvb6

Re the 9 for 10 shares plus 15p per share. Am I right in thinking they are paying us 150p per cancelled share when the present price is 168p ?

Boeing announce an unexpected profit from both military and higher than expected civil deliveries. Good news and a bit of a bounce for us.

I noticed that SNR quoted an IATA report in yesterday's rejection of the Lone Star bid: "IATA forecast world passengers flows to return to 2019 levels by the end of 2022, and to reach 105% of 2019 levels by 2023"

Reasonable update yesterday given the backdrop.

New Delta Plus variant may need watching, the delta variant has already pushed
airspace sector recovery back.

Stupid price currently, company soon to receive proceeds of Nortek, make a big dent in debt, pension fund and some cash to shareholders. Even if trading moderated since last statement, management keeping very tight control on costs.

Sure it was beyond their control, and the belief at the time was they got it on the cheap, and having refunded the pension deficit to allay fears at the time, they have cut costs and streamlined the business. Off course last year has walloped them somewhat, but then it has likely refocused their efforts to realign GKN.

I think we all know what MRO does, however the timing of the GKN purchase was not the best with circumstances totally beyond the managements control. On a plus side borrowing has never been cheaper.
I still hold a much reduced number of shares and the GKN site on the Isle of Wight is still functioning.

This company generally buys poorly managed, undervalued companies with strong underlying assets within its end markets. Those companies are few and far between as a result of shareholder activists, but globally there may be a few skeletons in the odd cupboard. GKN is a valuable business and its real asset is the electronic drive train, this should be really apparent two years hence. I also believe the management are top-rated in extracting value, so MRO likely undervalued itself currently as the world struggles to emerge from coronavirus.

Possibility they may bid for Senior?, this is speculation on my part
and I hold both.

It may add to the usual MRO share price volatility.

GKN, the leader in electronic drive shafts, a massive business down the line, and then alongside the commercial aircraft part of the business. GKN already earning its acquisition price. Onwards and upwards!

I watched the Capital Markets day presentation - started with the presentation and switched to the slides only as the CEO was heavy going with the Italian accent. All a rather technical report which risked clouding the overall picture which appears to be moving into positive mode. The sale of Nortek will bring in $3.6bn to clear some debt and hand some to shareholders, which is also positive but I do wonder what's left after that in the near term. Sooner or later they will be looking to pick up assets to improve and sell on so there will be a prospect of using shares and/or cash to do that. Slightly unclear future just now.
