21/11/2018 12:49 | Neither would I, Meanwhile in CAPS - it's morphed into a pizza joint. Yuch. | keyno
21/11/2018 12:38 | getting, Who do you think keyno really is? He/she likes dogs so it's not Minerve. It's not me either. Do you think it could be losos, or possibly your neighbour's dog? | meanwhile
21/11/2018 12:07 | Went for a meal at Bill's yesterday. Very nice. Enjoyed it. Tried their new nut roast on the Christmas menu. Yummy. Sat their relaxing whilst getting was playing pawn to his paymasters! Wonderful, the thought made it even better! ROFLMAO! | minerve
21/11/2018 12:06 | Keyno, I'll bet that betting shop, now closed, is haunted though. I wouldn't go in there. | meanwhile
21/11/2018 11:54 | Hi Yertiz HL have a range of charges with a base of 0.45%. On the first £250,000 0.45% On the value between £250,000 -£1m 0.25% On the value between £1m - £2m 0.1% On the value over £2m No charge (Donald is so rich??!!! that I imagine HL would pay him to keep his shares there). The service is excellent, and living near Bristol I have been able to arrange to pop in to their office. Most unit trusts have good discounts (Fundsmith is an exception). I am very happy with them, as is Mrs Brexitplus. When her company pension was transferred to L&G they were charging a fortune every month. Syncona is effectively an investment trust. Today's interims are very positive, with trial results due in the next few weeks. Blue Earth Diagnostics and Autolus are two to watch. I saw the Vulcan at Biggin Hill in about 1963, along with the Victor and Valiant. Huge plane. I'm reading about the Vulcan in Jolly's book at present. | brexitplus
21/11/2018 11:46 | If anybody here has the slightest interest, 25 million shares went through (showing as sale) earlier this morning. I love to see dogs in pubs etc. I counted six in our local bookies once. You used to have to wade through and over them to get to the counter as they were crashed out on floor, having been there for so long......... Ok if you like 'em but rather offputting for those who think otherwise. The branch is closed now. | keyno
21/11/2018 11:30 | MEANWHILE Losos is entitled to his opinion. Many would disagree. There is no need to take your dog to a pub or restaurant and by doing so you are generally being inconsiderate to those that prefer no animals present. I don't blame Losos for his ignorance, he is a silly old fellow IMO. I agree that animals are more accepted in the country, fair enough. I love animals, but they have their place. What you do in your own house is your own business as long as it is legal. | minerve
21/11/2018 11:22 | B+, how much are you charged annually by your broker for unit trust (Syncona) management? Glad you are enjoying the book, another good read is 'Vulcan 607' by Rowland White. I have an autographed copy by the author and two of the pilots involved. Astounding story of how we managed to get Avro Vulcan bombers to the Falklands (and back)- pivotal to the outcome of the Falklands War. MW - did you buy more MRO as you intimated earlier?, Y'know, sell at 177p, buy at 159p, sell at 176p,....etc, etc, ad infinitum. Just think how swollen that wallet could be now. | yertiz
21/11/2018 11:18 | Losos, "People in UK need to get a more balanced attitude to dogs," I expect we might get Minerve's view on that some time today. Here in the Wales countryside, I think many people have an easier attitude to all animals than city folks. Our neighbour of 10 years back used to have a vietnamese-type pig sleeping in the kitchen in cold weather and it's not unusual for farmers to have lambs & young sheep there. We only have cats, no dogs, but they have a totally free range in the house. Occasionally we need to move them from the kitchen table if they fancy something up there. | meanwhile
21/11/2018 11:07 | Hi Losos I agree. Mabel is always very well behaved in pubs. The last time we were in west and north west Wales the weather was terrible, lots of rain and fog. Lake District the same. Rain for 9 days and snow on the tenth!!! | brexitplus
21/11/2018 10:47 | B+ - "if you ever venture out into bandit country with Casey, there are some dog friendly pubs in the Snowdonia area." Big thanks for that, I do have an uncle and aunt in Wales who we haven't seen for a few years so maybe we will venture out that way. Have to buy some hazardous weather gear first 'cos it's ever so easy to get lost in them thar hills ;-) People in UK need to get a more balanced attitude to dogs, apart from the actual kitchen area there's no reason why they can not be in the pub and sit alongside you while you eat. Casey his evening meal inside, quite often beside me while I eat my pizza, he usually gets a bit, especially if it's one of those with sausage in the crust haha. | losos
21/11/2018 07:31 | Yertiz Excellent interims from Syncona. The Rick Jolly book is good. | brexitplus
20/11/2018 21:47 | MW GKN is a Pandora Box of companies that have more individual value that the collective bunch. In the 70's we had a name for it when the young Turks started to unwrap the old sad family run companies. "Stripping" and if you snooze you loose. GKN were very complacent and comfortable and paid the price. As a GKN holder I say good riddance. Let MRO realise the value . | jackdaw4243
20/11/2018 21:33 | I understand the our Minister Jeremy Hunt is going to visit Saudi Arabia . His boss Mrs Teflon May said "Go in Peace but don't come back in Pieces " sick world we live in. I once did a yacht race that required a member of the crew to run up Snoredoniia and a couple of other mountains Scruple but one. Called the 3 Peaks started in Wales ended in Scotland. | jackdaw4243
20/11/2018 20:50 | MW, can you do one of your posts from the sinister 'hvs' character you created earlier this year? I thought they were hilarious posts. Thanks, GRS | gettingrichslow
20/11/2018 20:14 | jackdaw, I've no reason to doubt what you say. When the deal was done largely through issuing new shares to GKN holders, this created a mass of new MRO holders who either didn't really want to own MRO shares or didn't believe in them. I think we are just seeing many of these being shaken out. I would have preferred to see a rights issue to existing MRO shareholders and payment in cash. | meanwhile
20/11/2018 18:30 | B+, have you noticed how MW always steps in and answers for Ryelodge? I wonder why? And never any reaction from Ryelodge when he does so of course. Maybe we should ask Ryelodge his opinion on a possible DogBuddy flotation? I reckon he'd go for anything if it was priced at 95p! | gettingrichslow
20/11/2018 18:30 | M W As someone closer to GKN than MRO it was as steal, it may take some time to digest, they have not acquired some nebulous intellectual software company but a company with hard assets and a supply chain into very well regulated engineering companies. Some thought Fokker was seen as a bridge too far with cash they did not have. The JV with RR has finished but the expertise and customer base still have a tremendous amount of value, an ideal breakup situation for the MRO team. | jackdaw4243
20/11/2018 17:24 | ryelodge, Many here think we are the same person but I'll answer you anyway since we know we're not. Fregoli delusion has set in again with getting; incurable some say. So may I apologise for his common, vulgar behaviour and language; he thinks he's addressing me. It is very disappointing for new MRO shareholders, and ex-GKN, but many shares are suffering from whatever the current ailment is. My most recent shares held in other sectors, B&M and Barratt, are both down around 20%. It might also surprise many but there is still a lot of profit to be taken from MRO's current share price; around 1/3 of MRO shares currently in issue were initially floated/acquired at the Aug 2016 Nortek rights price of 95p and some good profit may still be sitting with some holders. I like to think that the MRO shareholder list is just being 'cleansed' of these holders to set a firm base for a recovery, barring a market collapse of course. It's a pity we can't cleanse it of the Fregoli delusionists. Ex-GKN holders, although not sitting on any decent profits, might also be just getting generally cheesed off. | meanwhile
20/11/2018 17:17 | Korean restaurants and Korean investors would be queuing up for this flotation. They also love dogs. | jackdaw4243
20/11/2018 17:06 | Getting, do you think DogBuddy will float. Worth a punting it does. Everyone loves dogs. | brexitplus
20/11/2018 17:04 | Ryelodge, can you update us on the Sportsdirect.com acquisition of the second hand cycle shop in Llanfairpwyllgwingoo Has a firm price been agreed yet? Is it a cash deal or in shares and sheep poo? | gettingrichslow
20/11/2018 16:45 | MRO seems to have taken a googly to middle and off. | ryelodge
20/11/2018 16:20 | Losos, if you ever venture out into bandit country with Casey, there are some dog friendly pubs in the Snowdonia area. This from the local rag “We're a nation of animal lovers with many considering pets as part of the family - but finding the paw-fect pub that happens to be dog friendly is no easy feat. But finding someone where your pet is just as welcome as you are is just about to get easier with one Gwynedd pub. The Bryntirion Inn in Llandderfel, near Bala has scooped the DogBuddy Dog-friendly Pub Awards for the country for the second time in a row after accumulating the most votes again. Four other inns in the region have also been named in the top 10 list for Wales. Now in their third year, Europe’s leading online dog sitting platform, DogBuddy.com introduced the awards to recognise deserving pubs across the UK that truly embrace "paw power" and welcome not just two, but four legged customers as well. Richard Setterwall, founder and CEO of DogBuddy said: “For the third year running, DogBuddy – with the help of dog lovers up and down the country - has been searching for the best of the best when it comes to dog-friendly pubs, with the The Bryntirion Inn, we’ve found just that. "The superb service demonstrated shows a real consideration for dog welfare and happiness, which we at DogBuddy value above all. The whole DogBuddy pack is proud to congratulate The Bryntirion Inn on winning the Dog-friendly Pub Award for Wales and hopes that the awards will inspire dog owners country-wide to discover and support their local pubs”. | brexitplus |
