Losos,

I wouldn't bank on Minerve departing the site. I expect he'll be returning under another name.
He may be already back.

May I nominate our resident 'Fregoli' expert getting to let us know when this return has occurred?

"Right off out now, as mentioned above perhaps we can get back to sensible discussion now that the one 'big pain in the bum' has departed haha."

Minerve did say that Losos posted sarcastic comments towards him that were unprovoked.

Obviously, judging by the above post, he was right.

Losos

I switched all my accounts to HL a while back. I think of them as the John Lewis of the retail broking world. Their service is really excellent and their prices very reasonable. I used to use multiple brokers including a full service traditional outfit that positioned itself as the fortnum and mason of the broking universe. Vastly over-priced for products that were beautifully packaged but distinctly underwhelming when you sank your teeth into them.

Very pleased with HL.

An undisturbed run of 10 posts from the 3 stooges, Rag, Tag & Bobtail.
Melrose heading down but high hopes of enrichment elsewhere.
All back to normal.

No mention of Melrose at all in Autumn's edition of 'The Cat'.
Anything in 'Horse & Hound', Losos?

tournesol - "Hate to disappoint you twice but I am a he. I do try to be in touch with my feminine side, but my efforts in that endeavour generally go un-noticed."

Sorry old boy, clearly had a mental 'black out' (As opposed to the real black out I had when in the garden centre last week haha)

But now that you've clarified I promise not to make such a mistake again :-)

Thanks, GRS - pretty comprehensive summary of the options we have. iii no longer charge exit fees, but the site is useless in comparison to what we had last year. Change for change sake, it just hasn't improved any facet of their site. Loyalty in this age and time doesn't pay, as proven by the bonuses you have been paid - nice one, something I need to do too!!

I would hope the move to the main market by Plus will solve the issue with dividend taxes charged by the Israelis. I'm not holding my breath, but as you say, the process is so convoluted and time constrained, it's hardly worth worrying about unless you have at least 50k tied up there (which I haven't).

Might buy another tranche in MRO - nothing too serious, maybe 2-3k's worth, but sub-185p these are ridiculously cheap.

Yertiz, I use multiple brokers and over the years must have used most of the main players and many of the smaller ones. 'Monevator' do a good summary of the pros and cons of each that matches my experience quite closely. Very quick summary - HL great customer service but not cheap if you have funds (but cheap if you only have single stocks), Charles Stanley and Halifax decent all rounders, IG pay out big bonuses if you move to them but limited services eg no div reinvestment, iWeb good if you just want cheap, don't even consider SelfTrade, Barclays and many others because unreliable platforms etc. Watch out for exit fees! Note it's now possible to make big (up to £500 each time) bonuses by moving from provider to provider but viability depends on what you hold and how many exit fees payable. You may 'lose' some Divi payments temporarily too. But I've done this many times in last few years to make >£3,000 in bonuses. If you look at some of the recent posts on the PLUS board from Metis and click his Stockopedia link you will see what's involved in the PLUS claim process - it's crazily inefficient!

I shall formally unfilter MW this morning in that case. Seems he has seen the light and upped his game after all. Well done.
Broker informed me there was no way to reclaim the Israeli tax on Plus - think I need to change my broker in this case! Any suggestions? Barclays do a good deal but like most banks I have no confidence in them.

Yertiz, yes Minerve has announced his departure, tail between legs, MW did the honourable thing and denounced Minerve's disgraceful comments to Losos. But of course he has left before, and like a bad smell has the habit of returning. Note I believe that even in an ISA you get Israeli WHT of 25% held back, and you can reduce this to 15% by doing the claim. But trust me that unless you've got a very large holding it's not worth the hassle.

All my Plus is in an ISA so no tax reclaim available for me. Not going to worry over it, seems a bit of a process to go through to be honest.

With regards to several posts today, have I missed something? Has the board troll now shuffled off to look for new friends? I think he has left it a little late and blotted his copybook somewhat.
Perhaps some normality will break out and the board become what it was meant for - Melrose and investments, ideas and news.

B+, note if you want to reclaim part of the Israeli WHT you have to go through quite a process ahead of the payment date. Not worth it if you haven't got a big number frankly.

B+ or Yertiz,
Plus500 question I'm afraid - this paperwork to reclaim a portion of the Israeli dividend tax is driving me nuts! Does anyone know what you are supposed to enter on the last section of Part A of the main claim form - the section titled 'Details of Income Received'? It asks for 'Country, City, Bank name and account number, and Amount'?? Thanks.

Well, I used to post here primarily because MEANWHILE was reading, but now I am on filter, I don't see much point. Obviously, I am not interested in Melrose as an investment.

So good luck folks, some of you'll need it. LOL

And I trust that none of you will come looking for me on other threads. Hopefully we can stay clear of each other. That would be marvellous.

Minerve thinks Meanwhile will "find himself alone" on this thread. Well I'm sensing a change in dynamic is occurring. I'll be honest - the only thing that has really annoyed me about MW has been his refusal to pick up Minerve when he is bang out of order. But this time he has. Not only that but he has delivered it with a profound objectivity that I admire. Particularly in the context of knowing that Minerve is an ally. So respect where respect is due. If you go back to the days before the GKN saga started, MW would frequently put out lucid and entertaining posts. They were slightly quirky but in a knowing way, with a dash of sarcasm or irony. I'm sensing those days are back and his Jamaican McD post earlier today is a case in point.

Losos has posted plenty of unnecessary sarcastic remarks on this thread, and others, that are most definitely aimed towards me. Many times they are unprovoked.

I can only assume that he can't get over the fact that I don't morph into that of an excited two year old when he brings up the subject of his dogs and embarks on a tiresome round of anthropomorphism.

I've just taken a sly look at the filtered Minerve's posts today to monitor any improvement from yesterday. Sadly there is none. He will remain filtrated.

Still, it's an ill wind that blows no good and, in his current mood, his posts will remain a good source of psychiatric data for scientific research.

The question around tournesol's separate identity should now be clear.

Whether the other 3, hvs, Mayers and ryelodge are me remains to be cleared up.
hvs is very vulgar and uses bad language, so shouldn't be thought to be me.
The other 2 I suppose could be me, but they're not.
