14/1/2023 15:54 | Darrin - I’ve also been scooping up a few these ahead of the next update. Do you hold RBG? I’ve not got any yet but will start buying and adding if and when the price turns upwards, it makes far more sense to buy when/if price turns upwards. | trader465
14/1/2023 15:25 | SouthernSong. Also have an investment here and in JDW. Looked at the whole pub sector last year and have held FESTA, YNGN and CPC around results times as I felt their estates would have out performed during the summer. I made small profits and felt very lucky with CPC as I thought their results were poor. Any opinion on JDW vs MARS? Estates and target markets are different. JDW in town centres and MARS on the edge of estates or towns. JDW customers more effected by inflation and MARS likely to have customers effected by higher fixed mortgages for the next few years. Both should have had a very good LFL revenue since the world cup. I feel JDW also have more revenue upside as they have been selling quite a range at discount prices since covid. Returning prices to pre covid levels would still make JDW good value and boost profits. Hold 2 JDW for 1 MARS but may add more JDW soon | darrin1471
12/1/2023 09:56 | Worth looking at Mitchells & Butlers (MAB) today - no position held - who have delivered a decent trading update. Good to see them clawing back ground. I believe MARS will soon deliver something similar and that we are a little earlier on the recovery curve and moving off a low base. Still very long on MARS. | southernsong

05/1/2023 16:20 | It'll come good imho 1choip. I'm adding. The company is now through the worst and has weathered three years of serious challenge and disruption....but it has proven to be resilient. First restriction-free Christmas trading in three years, supported by a winter World Cup. At the last count (8 weeks to end of October 2022) sales were up almost 7%. All underpinned by solid tangible assets in the form of a property portfolio valued at over 2.1 Billion. I expect the market to 'catch up' at around the time of the next trading update later this month. Good luck. | southernsong
05/1/2023 15:57 | Hope u Sharpe recovery on the way | 1choip
05/1/2023 15:47 | MARS picking up nicely today on solid trading. I expect these to be hitting c.45p soon ahead of the next trading update. Next RNS should tell us a great deal about the prospects here as we move into 2023. Lowering inflation rates too will provide the tonic. Recovery shaping up nicely. AIMO etc | southernsong

03/1/2023 09:47 | RNS. Long positions being increased. | southernsong
03/1/2023 09:39 | I think we will be near or through 50p at the next update 1choip. Happy New Year to all MARS holders. | southernsong
30/12/2022 08:15 | Agreed. Should see this break up through 40p as we move into the New Year ahead of the next trading update. | southernsong
30/12/2022 08:04 | time to say goodbye to 30s | 1choip
29/12/2022 19:46 | (Came on the 25th last year). Figures should look favourable imo. Broader macroeconomic improvements should, in time, see the market come in and back the likes of MARS again. Resilient business that has been sorely tested by (and beaten imo) Covid, underpinned by massive tangible asset base. Is MARS about to 'answer' the March - September economic cost of living crisis slump? I think it might be about to do that. We'll see. The CEO, at the last count, was cautiously optimistic: "I am pleased to report a strong performance over the last 12 months evidenced by a doubling of revenue growth, a return to profit and steady progress with our debt reduction strategy. We have a clear and focused strategy which provides a strong platform for future growth, and it is encouraging to see the actions and initiatives which we have undertaken in 2022 beginning to deliver positive results." | southernsong |
