14/11/2012 11:19 | Very good IMS. They expect forecasts to be hit even if difficult conditions and weak sales don't improve. | aleman
14/11/2012 07:43 | A solid statement with this the highlight Manufacturing Operations' sales are 2% below 2011 for the year to date and mainly reflect previous actions taken to address lower margin business. The improved customer mix and focus on the higher added value areas of each business - resealable labels within Labels and design-led work within Packaging Manufacturing - have contributed to the recovery in gross margins. In overall terms, profit before exceptional items from our Manufacturing Operations is well ahead of that achieved in 2011. Net interest costs are similar to those seen last year. The net effect of these factors is that the Group's profit before exceptional items for 2012 to date remains well ahead of 2011. | shauney2
14/11/2012 07:30 | IMS out this morning. "Macfarlane Group continues to make solid progress, despite demand conditions remaining subdued. Whilst we do not expect general economic conditions to improve in the short term, the Board remains confident that Group results for 2012 will be in line with its expectations." | battlebus2

10/10/2012 15:57 | Looks like the chance to get a few more is getting away from me. UK small caps are having a strong run at the moment. I hope it's indicative of improvement in the UK economy. | aleman
18/9/2012 11:16 | b2 picked up your post on fif, notice aleman is here too. looks to have risen quite a bit recently, will thrash through the accounts and let you know if i come on board. Looks an interesting proposition but will need to get a good handle on the pension deficit etc. Don't have a great knowledge of bond yeild performance but from alemans chart the 10 year seem to have been pretty volatile over the last year, does this make them unreliable on pension deficit calcs, is a 1% swing sigificant? Woody post note Aleman another cup and handle from april? lol | woodcutter
17/9/2012 10:37 | Could there be news here? | battlebus2
17/9/2012 10:28 | Shares of companies with pensions deficits seem to be doing well at the moment. TNI are up 30% in few weeks as bond yields have risen. | aleman
17/9/2012 09:03 | Went ex-dividend last Wednesday. | aleman
17/9/2012 08:54 | Thanks. Can you confirm when the ex-div date is? | nhb
14/9/2012 16:35 | Read through them again and topped up. Seem to be doing a bit better overall and the pension deficit should have done better since the end of June with stockmarkets and gilt yields both up. The forecasted 3.5p earnings look achievable and cashflows look pretty good so long as we don't need to divert more than existing agreed payments to the pension. I could see them paying a slightly higher dividend but don't think they will this year after the pensions exercise. If business remains roughly as expected, I think next year's dividend might be a bit higher. | aleman |
