23/2/2012 17:58 | so marketmakers have a limited number of shares available on a daily basis | bernie37
23/2/2012 17:35 | bernie I'm not sure I understand your question. The volumes that I refer to concern those offered by marketmakers on a daily basis and it has nothing to do with the number in circulation. I still feel positive about the full year figures. | cs44
23/2/2012 17:17 | cs44 question, stock available, can you explain how when macf have 15.02 shares issued, don't understand these volumes | bernie37
23/2/2012 08:43 | The past few days stock availability has changed, now one can buy more but sell less!! | cs44
17/2/2012 09:46 | I like nice surprises | bernie37
17/2/2012 08:34 | Not much stock available but you can sell in volume. I think we may be in for a pleasant surprise on March 6. | cs44
31/1/2012 10:26 | Notice of Results Macfarlane Group PLC confirms that it will announce its results for the year ended 31 December 2011 on Tuesday 6 March 2012. | aleman
29/1/2012 14:41 | BETA Beta is calculated using regression analysis, and you can think of beta as the tendency of a security's returns to respond to swings in the market. A beta of 1 indicates that the security's price will move with the market. A beta of less than 1 means that the security will be less volatile than the market. A beta of greater than 1 indicates that the security's price will be more volatile than the market. For example, if a stock's beta is 1.2, it's theoretically 20% more volatile than the market. Many utilities stocks have a beta of less than 1. Conversely, most high-tech Nasdaq-based stocks have a beta of greater than 1, offering the possibility of a higher rate of return, but also posing more risk. | bernie37
28/1/2012 16:09 | There was another large increase in internet shopping over the holiday period and I hope that MACF took a good share of the packaging required for all those deliveries. | cs44
27/1/2012 10:19 | Risk grade up to 210 from 92 | bernie37
26/1/2012 15:26 | Couple of big buys there! | aleman
26/1/2012 11:39 | Aleman, must be me threatening to place my order for boxes! | mrphil
26/1/2012 10:35 | Over 10% now. I wonder what brought that on. | aleman
26/1/2012 10:16 | a rising share up 7.8% | bernie37
24/1/2012 17:10 | I bought them because they were cheap. I have no idea what the risk grade has been doing. I can't speak for others , though. Perhaps the good (or not as bad as predicted) retail figures for December have raised sentiment. Somebody must be producing the packaging for all that stuff. | aleman
24/1/2012 16:14 | I have noticed when the risk grade moves low we see a price move, don't understand why? | bernie37
24/1/2012 15:47 | The stock available seems to have disappeared! I think the recent buyers have timed their move exquisitely. | cs44
19/1/2012 23:18 | There's life on the msg board eh! Well I'm debating this one. Thought there could be a huge overhang if Kite wanted out but there's been no RNS since June last year and they had 8.91% then and they should notify at every 1% move? And despite some pretty heavy volume going through at the end of october, no holdings RNS followed. Just has the feel of lots of stock available online too. Still on a 2012 PE of 6 and a yield of 9% it does look good value. There was plenty of director buys last November too. Might wait to see if it moves before dipping in. | chrisb1103
19/1/2012 17:39 | Beta is just compares it to main market movements. 1 would mean moveing perfectly in line and -1 perfectly opposite. 0.15 is pretty low and means MACF tends not to move much in line with the rest of the market but to prety much do its own thing. I think risk grade is a measure of volatility but don't know how it works. | aleman
19/1/2012 17:06 | Can anyone enlighten me,Digital look as macf at a Risk grade of 92 and Beta 0.15 are these good or bad numbers | bernie37
19/1/2012 14:24 | Aleman - Just joined you with a 15K top-up @18.3p which also showed as a sell. | investoree
19/1/2012 13:50 | Bought back in. Daft price after a respectable in-line trading statement. Must be stock about as I got under mid-price and it shows a sell. | aleman
10/10/2011 15:31 | One of the issues here is the raw material price increases, pulp prices are up about 8% this year at around $943 per tonne. The issue for MacF is that raw Material prices to them are even higher at 11% (based on Abbey Corrugated and DS Smith general price rises in the market). The question here is whether or not a commodity like MCF provide has the ability to rise in relation to raw material input rises. I believe it can, but not as quickly and doubtful whether it can in this market. Also in the Labels division, raw material prices have continually risen this year and are expected to continue in the next year. A stand semi gloss perm is expected to rise by c5% in the next 3 months. This is definately not a market whereby cost increases can be passed on. gg | greengiant
10/10/2011 15:19 | Now that is a $64 mln question!!....maybe others have a view on MACF... my hunch tells me we will see lots more profits warning from small caps as we approach year end trading updates... | diku |
