Usually the brokers provide a reiteration recommendation when they are trying to sell into the market and it’s a red flag for a downturn in the share price!

ii view: income star M&G makes more money than expected

Driving initiatives including a simplification of operations and offering a highly attractive dividend yield. Buy, sell or hold?

I must admit I thought the asset management side was turning itself around, so disappointing that they are back into familiar outflow territory. Agree with some of the posts above that I can't see any meaningful recovery following these results (not saying they were bad, just nothing to excite) - furthermore expect markets to be choppy over the autumn and these tend to be high beta - if we see a general market sell-off these could easily fall to 180p so happy to be out of these for time being.

M&G's capital generation, solvency the positives as outflow recorded - analyst
04 Sep 2024

M&G PLC (LSE:MNG)’s higher-than-expected operating capital generation and improving solvency ratio marked the positives of the fund manager’s interim results, according to analysts.

At £486 million and 210% respectively, the figures were above consensus expectations, UBS analysts said in a note, leaving M&G in line to hit strengthened targets.

M&G had reported a £1.5 billion net outflow for the six months to June on Wednesday morning, against an inflow of £0.7 billion a year earlier.

UBS analysts noted the results were largely better than expected though, with management cost-saving efforts prompting better capital generation and in turn fueling M&G’s solvency ratio.

M&G signalled aims to hit £220 million worth of cost savings by 2025 in Wednesday’s results, against £200 million previously.

A new £2.7 billion operating cash generation target, compared to £2.5 billion beforehand, then brought the group’s own aims in line with market expectations, UBS added.

UBS reiterated a ‘neutral’; rating for M&G following the results, alongside a 218p share price target.

Shares fell 1% to 213.90p on Wednesday.

Looks like the XD coming forward 2 weeks has upset the apple cart for holders looking to trade around it, but there will be an opportunity to add sub 200 pence on the 12th or after which is also great value keeper shares for income.. :o)

Sold out all mine 150k shares @ 209. Sick of losing money. Bad results yesterday and should have sold the lot then. Lost more in 24hours than the due dividend.

I am hoping to get back in at an outlandish 180 level

Is a long time until full year results and the results yesterday and the lack of any significant increase in dividend plus the nervousness off the market informs my thinking

The way I am thinking am unlikely to buy before the latter part of year.

It is what it is FOMO is the prevailing mindset

Am sure the derogatory remarks will flood in but is no skin of my nose or my funds

Similarly with DLG the paucity of dividend tempers my view

ABDN is coming up on the rails

They did kill the value they might realise from Ascentric / IFDL/ Wealth Platform by saying it was a sale or run off……
The IFA users will be heading for the exit pretty quickly making it a run off situation.

I see the share price is recovering .. From my view this remains a compelling income player and seems the road to growth is slow, just like the share price . Will continue to consider adding at sub 200p and with such a good %income I am prepared to take the risk. We all expect interest rates to continue a steady drop, unless US accelerates after Fridays Job reports GLA
