cjac39 - good to hear from you and that all is ok. Ifound your comments on AV Health of interest and inspiring. AV is still my favorite in the sector particularly with AB's somewhat improved management team which seems to be firing on all cylinders!

I still dip in from time to time but its not for me discussions of investing for the divi around ex d and share price comments which seem to become endless. I thought results overall were solid and the share price has been disappointing albeit along with others post exdivi. cap gen is v decent from WP; average from AM and good from anns so I dont doubt any cap gen targets they throw out. liquidity was maybe an issue with debt repmts but the prufund swap is a way out of this + they have decent headroom on S2. Given their low nb volumes its not obvious why they are running at > 200% S2 margin.

So overall divi looks solid but the share price prospects, and I guess the analysts views, will hinge mainly on sorting out MNG AM which apparently they are experts at!

I’m out today, Paul. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.
If it isn’t to plan then MNG are cheap enough to get in early with that same money. Always have a plan and a backup plan!

Hopefully the weakness holds until the divi gets paid.

Poor performance today considering the Ftse100. They should start buybacks in earnest.

I think cjac can and does disappear for periods with travel. I don't think he lives and breathes on here when he's appreciating his wealth in a foreign land!

I too miss cjac's well reasoned insights. Hopefully they've been quieter because they're secretly working on a bid for MNG ? :-)

Has anybody seen anything of cjac? Must say that I am missing his valuable input and understanding of the insurance market.

Circumstances dictate that until dividends start appearing in my account in May/thru June my hands are tied.

Think this fall exacerbated by the decline in Prudential share price(another missed opportunity)? but BATS and Phnx couldn't be ignored at these levels.

Patience required in this topsy turvy market,

Good Luck

Missing the bottom? Ha, I bet your bag has never been the first one on the carousel! Mine hasn't either, but as long as it's close that's good enough, I reckon. The problem now is the price has zip all to do with fundamentals for the time being... it will present opportunities, that's for sure.

I'm still looking to add here, but am in no hurry until macro events become clearer / more positive.

If that means missing the bottom - so be it.

Anyone taking advantage today? I may indulge further next week, but nothing is clear on the MNG or Middle East fronts, so breathing space and time to see what develops. It could be over, with both sides having the last day, or it could be we're about to see the share price really tank.No sign of my confused pal, but he was caught out selling when he was buying then he sold the week before. It's about confidence now, there is money to be made.

I missed the trading opportunity and am resigned to leaving my holding here for a year. Glad it looks like the divi could be maintained. I see the share price recovering slowly slowly.

Over 2022 and 2023, we generated £1.8 billion of operating capital, which puts us in a very good position to achieve our three-year cumulative operating capital generation target of £2.5 billion by end of year.

The 2023 total ordinary dividend of 19.7 pence per share (2022: 19.6 pence per share) is in line with our policy of stable or increasing dividends. The second interim dividend of 13.2 pence per share is payable on 9 May 2024.
