23/7/2024 12:58:03 | Another opportunity to top up early morning. I'm going to sell today's purchase before XD if this goes to 225 in the meantime. | rongetsrich
21/7/2024 22:03:47 | Its difficult to imagine that anyone with even a passing interest in the stock markets hasnt realised that. In fact a relatively large number of posters/investors seem to actually desire it. | scruff1
21/7/2024 20:41:31 | Eventually people will realise that the US venture funds and PE wait for a distressed period and then take over good UK businesses because shareholders cave in and there’s no protection.
So now we’re left with uninspiring low or no-growth businesses.
Cadburys used to be one of the most reliable dividend payers, because chocolate was a stable good margin business, in good and bad times for the economy. Kraft then Mondalez got that.
Difficult to believe but direct inward investment into the UK, which you would think would be things like Nissan in the North East, actually includes the purchase of UK businesses by foreign businesses (mainly US). It accounts for a large percentage of the total inward investments. | yump
21/7/2024 20:26:36 | H1 results to be published 4/9. Let’s hope for positive news GLA | tornado12
17/7/2024 19:16:31 | LLB - just think of it as a new manager that changes direction because the Board wants something to change. We have done cost cutting…..so now we are moving to M&A in the search for growth. The next phase is the acquisition related debt is too high so we have to sell something. (When the Lab govt falls apart). It may be a while depending on how competent they are and how they treat their customers. | 1jat
17/7/2024 15:09:04 | There is our 1st answer to rescuing the economy from Labour, the Great British Railway, nationalise the rail franchises and operators, bring them under public ownership, because obvs it was such a roaring success model as BR before they were privatised.. :o) | laurence llewelyn binliner
17/7/2024 13:36:51 | So the inflation miss is largely down to the 'Taylor Swift' effect - no doubt the term will join the A to Z of economics! | skinny
17/7/2024 08:34:45 | They have got their bloody 2% what more do they want ??? | lab305
17/7/2024 08:19:02 | #Skinny, same, the inflation expectations were lower putting weight on a rate cut 01st August, this has not happened and not helped the futures.. | laurence llewelyn binliner
17/7/2024 08:17:39 | When I looked @7 the futures indicated @8196 - now 8158. | skinny
17/7/2024 08:17:02 | Yup. Utterly ridiculous what's going on with the US mkt v others | dope007
17/7/2024 08:14:17 | Total disconnect from US now (except when their Market falls).spud | spud
17/7/2024 08:08:37 | Today's CPI figures (unchanged) probably haven't helped. | skinny
17/7/2024 08:04:04 | Agree. How can Dow go up 700+ points and FTSE open lower the next day? | spawny100
16/7/2024 17:10:14 | The Dow goes from strength to strength whilst we languish year after year. The best we can hope for are some crumbs to fall from their table. M&G must be looking very cheap now from a US perspective. | lab305
13/7/2024 13:15:54 | JJ While there is no longer a direct link between Pru and MNG, there will be a large overlap in shareholders as they were common when MNG was demerger from Pru…..but any trading since 2019 will have resulted in divergence…especially across funds with different objectives….I suspect many smaller shareholders will still hold both. They also experience some of the same macro economics, although Pru is now largely funded by USD and MNG by GBP. | 1jat
11/7/2024 20:49:27 | That's certainly my stance RC Turner, put your money in and let nature take its course. No point stressing about stuff out of your control... | igoe104
11/7/2024 20:16:03 | Completely agree. | pj84
11/7/2024 06:42:29 | I think with value shares like this you buy and take the dividend and wait for the revaluation. There is no point stressing, holders win either way. | rcturner2
11/7/2024 06:07:27 | Have the notion that this MNG and Pru are linked hence why this has been suffering
With that in mind have taken a half and half stance on this and Pru and taken an equal amount cash wise in each.
Dividend here much better than the Pru but the share buyback should help in that regard and when more investors take the blinkers off this should do well.
Early days but very hopeful
Have a good day and hope the weekend gives more joy | jubberjim
10/7/2024 10:38:09 | Norges Bank have increased their hoding in M&G to over 4% | martyre
04/7/2024 17:50:56 | Interesting to know. | rongetsrich
04/7/2024 14:50:53 | The next divi will be worth around 3% atm, as I wrote I'm not interested but I will build towards next year's main divi, as I've done this past few years. | gbh2
04/7/2024 14:43:34 | No. I've made my bed and I'll lie in it. | helen troy
