sorry I was looking at KBT BB at same time and read the post here saying £50k of shares traded. I thought I was reading the KBT board and trying to work out how 9k of shares at 170 equated to £50k.

Realised once posted lol

I thought the flurry of trades on KBT was interesting yesterday as we approach the bid announcement one way or another. Decent risk reward here if anyone facnies a punt and if no bid am happy to hold for longer term. Wish I had lobbed all of KBT at £2 and bought back now - harry hindsight is a wonderful thing !

Glyn10, Felix's original post couldn't work out how I'd arrived at £50k of trades before lunch yesterday per my post 9358. I think he must have realised!

A series of small buys coming in this morning at successively higher prices which now amount to around £50k. Encouraging stuff.

Big interview with Tom, and Cannacord increases its valuation to 335p:

"UPDATE - Lo-Q sets sights firmly on Asia
1:43 pm by Jamie Nimmo

The growing theme park business there makes it a clear target for the company.

Theme park queuing specialist Lo-Q (LON:LOQ) is setting its sights firmly on Asia, which it says is a booming market.

The growing theme park business there makes it a clear target for the company, whose products use cutting edge technology so that theme park users spend less time in queues and more time on rides.

"You don't need to be Warren Buffet to work out that Asia's growing at three times the rate of anywhere else," chief executive Tom Burnet told Proactive.

"And in a couple of years they'll have overtaken America in the top theme parks by attendance.

"So that just says to me that there's a market with which we are not engaging formally at all at the moment."

This is something Burnet is looking to change in the future, with a move into the region to add to Lo-Q's solid grounding in the US and Europe.

"On reflection, it's probably through partnership and it's probably through working with a vendor or vendors already engaged, already have networks, already have relationships and see if we can progress the business in that way; and that's definitely what we're looking at.

"It will be a vendor that focuses on our market and somebody that knows the movers and shakers and knows the people that are the economic buyers of our product.

"So if the data's saying it would be bonkers not to go there, then it's about what's the strategy to best engage with it."

The company revealed today revenues rose to £3.7 million (2011: £3.27 mln) in the six months to April, driven by a 14 per cent rise in average revenue per guest, which outweighed a 1 per cent fall in the total number of people using Lo-Q's products as poor weather hit European attendances.

Lo-Q's customers are theme and water parks and given the seasonal nature of the business, the year's second half results will be far more significant for the company.

Using Lo-Q's products, thrill seekers can reserve their place in a queue electronically and are notified when their turn is up.

US theme parks operator Six Flags is the largest customer for its Q-Bot queuing product.

Nine water parks run by Six Flags have also just started to use Q-Band, a waterproof RFID wristband that allows customers to reserve their favourite slide, though the full impact of these new parks won't come through until the product establishes itself, usually over a three or four year period, the company said.

Another avenue Lo-Q is looking to exploit is the smartphone market.

A 12-week trial is underway in London for a single-line attraction, with a smartphone trial of Q-bot in a US theme park due to kick off this summer.

"It opens an enormous Pandora's Box of opportunity," added Burnet, who says the real task for the company now is to protect as much of the intellectual property as possible.

However, while smartphones represent an "enormous opportunity" for Lo-Q to engage with more customers, Burnet doesn't see the company's future exclusively in smartphones.

It's an exciting time for Lo-Q, which looks set to take advantage not only of the smartphone age, but also of the theme park boom that's clearly happening in Asia.

Canaccord Genuity certainly thinks so, reiterating its 'buy' rating and pushing its target price up 10 pence to 335 pence against the current market price of 298 pence, down 6 pence or 2 per cent today."

Cheers for the Edison report Mark. Those who didn't know about Universal will now....

TB is as bullish as ever in interviews:

"DJ INTERVIEW: Lo-Q's Europe Operations Resilient Despite Uncertainty
By Rory Gallivan

LONDON--Lo-Q PLC (LOQ.LN), a U.K.-based supplier of devices that allow theme park visitors to avoid queuing for rides, has continued to perform well in Europe despite the economic uncertainty, its chief executive said Tuesday.

"Of our four biggest parks in Europe, three are in Germany and one is in the U.K. The German economy is rocking and rolling right now and we've seen no drop-off in business," Chief Executive Tom Burnet said in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires, adding that the main problem in both countries has been poor weather rather than economic weakness.

"When the weather has been kind people have been in parks and we've seen very encouraging spend from guests."

Lo-Q's devices are used in LEGOLAND Windsor in the U.K. and at LEGOLAND Deutschland in Germany as well as several theme parks in the U.S. Mr. Burnet said economic confidence has increased in the U.S. over the past year, meaning that people have more money to spend on leisure activities such as theme parks.

He added that, while Lo-Q's parks in Europe have been resilient in spite of economic uncertainty, there are some countries on the continent that the company has been more cautious about seeking to expand into, while declining to name which countries. "

Yup - Shame no mention made to Universal but i suspect that's more down to the customer than LO-Q. When it is announced, it will probably be one of the worst kept secrets though.

Good steady progress. Looking forward to some Asian penetration..;-)

Pleasing interims just out:

- the £5.3m cash pile is up over 30% year on year despite all the investment
- news of "Q-bot system trialled on smartphones at a North American Park in Summer 2012"
- possible Asian distributoir news coming soon, which would tie up with the exhibition news I posted
- the Merlin London Eye trial results are " encouraging"

There will always be some who are unaware of the H1/H2 split and so probably automatically take fright at the disparity for an exit on interims day, but everything seems to be going great guns imho.

More comments about the opportunities in the industry too, so we may find the cash pile being put to good use on acquisitions soon.

Came across this - looks like Q-Bots could be in another Universal park soon if they work at Islands of Adventure:

"At Universal it's just one ride at a time but you can make the next reservation while walking through the line of your current ride. They will hold your spot as long as you don't make another reservation, even past the time. Prices are starting at $21.99 for one reservation per ride and $24.99 for unlimited reservations per ride. That's during the slowest seasons though. Prices are based on crowds, similar to express. And it's only at IOA for the time being but it's expected to be at both parks at the end of July if it's popular enough.

I only know all this because I'm in Pass Sales at Universal lol."

No dividends, but about 6000% capital growth in 10 years.

How does that compare with your DTY shares?

In addition, for higher-rate tax payers it is BETTER to have capital growth than dividend distributions. If only you figured that out before and took your daft dividend blinkers off.

Nice to see a £20k buy just in at 303p.

Cheers davidosh. I'm hopeful of some Asia news coming out of the exhibition - and maybe news of the Unversal tie-up at some point too.

At the Agm we were given the indication that Asia would be an area for strong growth. I think water parks are a big growth area there too.

Per my post 9338 LOQ were exhibiting in Asia on 5-8 June.

Since I assume this is now the "off" season for Asia/Australasia, I wonder whether we might see some contract wins/RNS's for this region in the next few months following the European and American model of exhibitions in the autumn and contract wins in the "off" winter season?
