There no poor bureaucrats in Brussels. They have nothing in common with the ordinary people of Europe.

This is you:

Privileged white man of British Empire - having made his wealth and quality of life off the back of African (and other) slaves - suddenly tells said previous colonies to limit their number of children because it no longer suites him. Africans have to comply with said request to keep to 3 kids even though they live in poverty and the mortality rates for infant deaths are much higher.

Meanwhile said whiteman flies to Southern Spain for Easter break and watches Sky Sports on a 60" television inbetween making his unreasonable and unjust demands.

Graham, I would imagine Junker is quite rich too. Not on Bezos' level, but certainly very rich compared to most in Europe.

Capitalism and materialism are damaging the planet just as much, if not more, than population growth. It shouldn't matter whether you are a capitalist or not we cannot resolve issues of the environment and climate without addressing all these things properly and appropriately. It needs sensible, mature heads to do this. Not children and not those with selfish vested interests.

Bezos wouldn't be rich if he hadn't provided a fantastic service that benefits all of us.

That's what happens when "animals" such as Jeff Bezos keeps all the food for himself.

Minerve, We are all responsible for what comes next and the best start, as I can see it, which will solve a lot of the problems is the population.

As always Minerve, no comment on the contents, just snide comments. Don't worry, most of my posts are way over your paygrade.

"Other animals spend their time eating and shagging - a much better pastime than commuting"

There you have it, from a person with an IQ greater than 85. :)

That's not the point I am making Minerve. It's not about east or west,it's about the planets human population. It's getting too large for the planet to sustain.

But we are animals k.

I've often wondered why we, as intelligent animals, impose on ourselves a 35/40 hour working week - that is a big proportion of our lives. Then we impose being in the same place to do that work, meaning many intelligent animals crowded into trains for 2 hours each way. It's strange we are the only animals to do that. Other animals spend their time basically eating and shagging - much better pastimes than commuting and working.

Not many other animals have the concept of work, bees are the only other I can think of.

Who do you think wastes more resources and creates more issues with respect to climate change:

A couple in the west with no kids who eat at restaurants once a week, drive two cars, have 60" TVs, iPads, iPhones, commute to work 5 times a week, travel to Europe once or twice a year and holiday in the US/Caribbean/Asia or an African family of 8?

Minerve I do understand what you say that's why I start from the 4th kid. It's not me dictating the terms but reality. If we don't face the truth we will never solve any problems

Don't you think though that the world now is struggling to cope with the amount the human race is expanding. We could go on about climate change and what causes it i.e.the burning of fossil fuels etc. but if there were less of us we wouldn't need to rape the planet.

I am afraid your solutions are not solutions. They raise more questions and issues than they quash. If it was that simple life would be much easier. But it isn't.

You have had the opportunity to afford kids because you were born in a country belonging to the British Empire where industrialisation has provided you with opportunity to do so. Others are not as fortunate. I think it is a bit fresh and selfish of you to start dictacting terms to others from a position of privilege and power.

What gives you the right to tell others how many kids they have?

What if they can't afford 1 but others can afford 10? Others being CEO's who are screwing the system?
