Face the 'harsh reality' - UK will 'probably' have highest death rate in Europe

We should face the "harsh reality" that the UK will "probably" have the highest death rate in Europe because we acted too slowly, a former WHO director has said.

Yep.

Great start to Brexit folks.

Get used to coming bottom of the class! ;)

HopePosted April 17, 2020 at 6:59 pm | Permalink130 countries have border controls in place. Leading doctors claim the UK position is peculiar. Shapps today demands we do not book holidays abroad, ruining travel agencies I suggest, while allowing 100,000 to fly in each week not checked, not tested, quarantined or able to trace! Peculiar! Madness.Wednesday Shapps/govt confirmed HS2 to go ahead! Worse economic down turn in 300 years and three think tanks claim HS2 no value for money and the govt wants to borrow £100 billion plus for a useless vanity project that might be completed in 2040! EU infrastructure Madness.Any change for MPs to refuse undeserved pay rise to £82,000 as we are allegedly all in it together?

ianPosted April 17, 2020 at 4:30 pm | PermalinkI see that PHE, NHS and the UK government between them couldn't get into the top forty C19 safest countries ranking for handling the C19 crisis when you consider that billions are poured in each year by the public and the people at the top of these organisations are some highest paid people in the world, one must wonder what they are doing, health care in this country is where you always thought it was, in the third world. How is it that you payout the most money for almost all services the state runs and always receive a sub-standard service up against other countries like Germany and the rest of Europe and elsewhere.

Mike WilsonPosted April 17, 2020 at 5:48 pm | PermalinkI don't understand this idea that we get past 'the peak' and everything will be okay. How so? Unless there is an effective vaccine, all of us are going to get it sooner or later. Surely we just have to face up to that – and relax the restrictions – and take our chances. If the NHS can't cope, it can't cope. C'est la vie. Or, perhaps, C'est la mort.We can't all sit around in our homes forever trying to grow a couple of potatoes in a pot on the patio.

People seem to have stopped dying from anything other than Corro direct or Corro with"

Incorrect.

"Dr John Campbell - Death Rates, 16th April"

Month of March - 7% died with or from Covid-19
End of March - such was 28%

86% of people who died with Covid-19 in March, died from it.
14% died with it, would have died regardless(Sample size 3912 registerd deaths)

Yes, if Roche do ramp up, plus no doubt licensing to other manufacturers, it could all turn around very quickly.

It wont do Roche's bottom line any harm either.

I am quite excited by it if it can give us some facts for a change. I shall let you know if they start here. The proposed production ramp up is astounding.

Why should the taxpayer pick up the tab 100%.
80% seems unjustly unfair - 100% criminal.
You run a business and have no reserves or contingency.
The result will be that basic rate income tax will rise to 30% and so taxpayers will pay yet again.
Can we hope that as ESR - employment support relief is taxable - that ALL benefits be taxable?
