17/4/2020 17:57 | Very important news Alp (861) Many thanks. | maxk
17/4/2020 17:56 | "Drugmaker Roche announced it has developed a new Covid-19 test able to detect antibodies to the virus and indicate whether a person has become immune. The current tests available can only tell if a person currently has the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes Covid-19." Nice. | poikka

17/4/2020 17:42 | Ali, why no vaccine for a common cold?. There are about 200 different strains, which mutate frequently. It's overwhelming a mild virus (unless severely immunocompromised) so there is not really a clinical need for a vaccine. | essentialinvestor
17/4/2020 17:13 | BBC reports that the BOE Boss (Mr Bailey) was advising that the Chancellor and HM Treasury had to make a decision on whether or not the taxpayer gives 100% backing for the loan scheme. Seems sensible given that only 2% of firms had secured a loan to date according to the BCC on Wednesday, 6000 loans in total. | gwatson56
17/4/2020 16:43 | Extrovert... yes they do... but it's marginal these days and does not offset the risks and cost of running a plc. Better to stick money into a pension by some margin. | 1carus
17/4/2020 16:40 | yes extrovert | mr.elbee
17/4/2020 16:39 | numbers are all fake everyone knows that except the numpties. | mr.elbee

17/4/2020 16:36 | Roche will propose a new Covid-19 serological test. The Swiss laboratory will make available in early May a new serological test, Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2, which can identify antibodies in patients exposed to the virus. This detection can indicate whether the person concerned has developed immunity or not. Roche says the test will be available in countries accepting CE marking, while discussions are ongoing with the FDA in the United States. At least Trump should help with the FDA! | alphorn
17/4/2020 16:36 | Why no vaccine for the common cold? Because there is far more money to be made selling Lemsip and Benylin. Symptom relief can be sold every time but a prevention only once. | alicat1
17/4/2020 16:30 | No, it's good Alphorn. Roche are a great company. | minerve 2
17/4/2020 16:30 | Trump has been praising up Roche a lot, think he knows what they are up to | aljm

17/4/2020 16:15 | Cytiva (formerly GE Healthcare Life Sciences) and Avacta announced news on the testing front the other day. | patientcapital
17/4/2020 16:13 | Do company directors who pay themselves dividends instead of a wage do so to pay less tax? | extrovert
17/4/2020 15:49 | Now here is potentially exciting Swiss news - Roche is hoping to have approval for next month; both a CE and US approval. Roche develops new serology test to detect COVID-19 antibodies. Potentially very exciting; one to follow. Here is a media release: edit: Roche of course is not some tin pot organisation. | alphorn
17/4/2020 15:45 | diku - we had that one 15 years ago; no, I am not in a bed sit! Normally would be down South now but locked in CHland. | alphorn
17/4/2020 15:36 | Alp...I prefer the Swiss news...or in your case should it be Luton or Hounslow?... | diku

17/4/2020 15:24 | The government are happy to continue with infecting and killing. Their policy is at odds with the moral values of the society it is supposed to represent. I still strongly believe that Brexit being seen as a success via the proxy of a strong economy (vs Europe) is priority over life. The lockdown is happening just to soften repercussions from going against those moral values. | minerve 2 |
