Amazed how many people have no savings after being in decently paid work for years.

Overseas holidays, blingy cars, flat screened TV's, meals out and the best of everything.
The same with irresponsible companies, debt is beautiful, no cash reserves.

I wonder if the age of irresponsible excess where everyone lives beyond their means is coming an end.

1999 Lloyds peaked about 975p

Not sure if they have split since then

Certainly remember them about 540p yielding 6 % or so, many years ago

mitchy : Cannot see any quick fix for the indices . Uncertainty rules ok . Looks like FTSE could be heading for 4000 to 4500 range ! In which case Lloyds will definitely be sub 30p . Mind you I traded it in the bad old days (!?)at 25P!

I sold the GS LC late last year as the miles were building up and thought it was the right time to sell.

Actually bought a 2003 Yamaha Fazer FZS600 from my brother that had been stored for 9 years and had only done 16k miles. No battery, tyres like bakelite and a stuck throttle from crystalised old petrol. Paid the princely sum of £200.

New battery, tyres and a second hand set of carbs and it runs so sweet. In fact I did a 10 day tour of the Picos in Spain in October and it was absolutely brilliant. I reckon it's actually better than a lot of new stuff.

US covid_19 adviser dr.Deborah Birx says she getting reports that YOUNG PEOPLE ARE GETTING SERIOUSLY ILL in France and Italy"

It's the same in Belgium

Covid-19 patients in their 30's with no medical history.
We see people with a blank medical history being very ill. We have had very few older people inside so far. We now have people between ages of 30 and 50 coming in...

AZ - how is the bike? My son-in-law's 1150RT did not last very long as he ran it without oil. He won't do that again - 23k km and a write off - gone to a heaven in Poland. :(

Boris's billions to cover rents and mortgages wouldn't be necessary but for free movement of cheap labour. Employers will wash their hands of their responsibilities in terms of statutory sick pay etc thanks to a our open door immigration policy.

Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey suggested that the central bank was considering printing money and giving it directly to UK households, noting that "everything is on the table."

Bailey, who began his term as governor on Monday, said that the Bank of England would "do what it takes to meet the needs of the economy and the needs of the people of this country."

Responding to a question in a Sky News interview about the measures that the bank was considering — such as cutting interest rates to zero, and even printing money to give directly to households — Bailey said: "Everything is on the table that is reasonable, within the policy toolset."
