18/3/2020 14:10 | Unlike some selfish people who think this is no worse than the flu I am changing my habits because, despite not being ina high risk category myself(as far as I am aware) I do come into contact with people who are - and I most certainly would not want to pass a death sentence to them. This is far worse than the flu. Doctors acknowledge such. Only the ignorant still say Flu kills 17,000 a year when we are only 3 months into this Coranavirus. Let's compare at the end of the year shall we so we are comparing apples and apples. You also base your "assessment" on false Chinese data. If you think only 3100 odd died in China you're deluded as well as ignorant...Same goes for Iran. Both countries are lying about their death counts. | ![]() crossing_the_rubicon
18/3/2020 14:10 | Healthy people will not die from this virus, the old and people with underlying health issues need help, and that is the same with Flu each year. | ![]() cromw3ll

18/3/2020 14:06 | 035, the actions taken that is, not the virus itself. | pierre oreilly

18/3/2020 14:04 | Crom, couldnt agree more, i would go further, "this hysteria is tiring and getting ridiculous" it is also making people ridiculously scared ! The Media is ramping it way too hard, and that is NOT helping ! | ![]() aljm
18/3/2020 14:04 | 'tiring'? ffs it's destroying people, their wealth, their pensions, their health and in general our scoiety. | pierre oreilly
18/3/2020 14:04 | Why are we weeks and months behind the actions of everyone else? Come on Boris, FFS show some leadership. | ![]() minerve 2
18/3/2020 14:03 | There's no doubt that the Coronavirus and the associated Government actions will have profound effects on the mental health of many. I'd also say we're at real risk of anarchy sooner rather than later. We're probably the lucky ones who've lived through the 70's and 80's and understand / appreciate what social unrest actually is and how it manifests itself in society. Miners strikes, Poll tax demos, football violence and the general feeling of anger and hopelessness of the Thatcher era will undoubtedly stand many of us in good stead for what is to come...... | ![]() ladeside
18/3/2020 14:02 | Prepare for the worst isnt panic. it's called preparing to mitigate the worst. Which is sensible. Rather than your complacency saying this is no worse than the flu. Which it clearly is. | ![]() crossing_the_rubicon
18/3/2020 13:59 | Unless you have underlying health issues or need to look after someone, then the virus like any other Flu should be allowed to run its course. 17k died from flu last year. Immunity needed for following years, this hysteria is tiring and getting ridiculous. | ![]() cromw3ll
18/3/2020 13:59 | Love it - preference being given to the +70s for shopping (quite right i think) for the first hour of opening. Result, very old women struggling out of sainsbury with as many massive packs of bog rolls as they can physically carry! Why not limit everyone, even the +70s, to say 12 rolls per day? | pierre oreilly
18/3/2020 13:59 | We enter stage two 'A Ticking Time Bomb': Coronavirus Crisis Looms In Africa 3-4 weeks behind Italy imo. Small beer so far.. ie Case, case, case, Not at the cluster, cluster stage really... | ![]() crossing_the_rubicon
18/3/2020 13:57 | BB, I was thinking 26p but still not convinced that it would be a bargain in this ever changing situation. TSCO my main investment at the moment and probably as safe a haven as there is currently, although I'd imagine there may be some doubt cast over the asset sale but irrespective it's still one of the most stable out there in these stormy waters..... | ![]() ladeside
18/3/2020 13:54 | Unsure what you mean GNR, NS didn't want another referendum at this time (neither did BB or I) as the time wasn't right. I still want independence but there's more pressing issues at the moment as you're undoubtedly aware. The Oil price has dropped but that's not really an issue as Today's price or next years price has no impact on what may or may not happen with Scotland in the coming few years. I'd also point out that most Unionists have argued that the oil "doesn't belong to Scotland" and "you won't get the oil" etc, so you can't have it both ways. You'll notice my earlier prophecy about the school closures has now come true........ | ![]() ladeside
18/3/2020 13:33 | No dividend stuck in a range at 27-33 for possibly years doesn't sound particularly appealing to me.Im thinking supermarkets & telecoms. | utrickytrees

18/3/2020 13:06 | New warnings from the bank of England. The governor ,Andrew Bailey says "there will be a big downturn" because of the virus. "Incredible fast moving financial emergency " | k38
18/3/2020 13:04 | Roosevelt said 'the only thing to fear is fear itself'. Kennedy said 'Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country' Trump this week..'I am not responsible' 'I give myself 10 out of 10 for our handling of this chinese virus' 'we are doing a great job' I only hope that all those rednecks are now seeing Trump for the conman and odious pile of hate he has always been. | ![]() jacko07
18/3/2020 13:01 | Let's see what Philip Morris International does this afternoon. I may add. A Terry Smith stock for those who are fans. Near 66$ assumes no growth but this has very high ROE and ROCE and pushes £1Bn annual into Cap Ex. 4 times that of Imperial. | ![]() minerve 2 |
