Maybe aerosol transmissions are easier in winter months? Some (medics) have stated that large-droplet transmission is the predominant mode by which influenza virus infection is acquired.

asdb - "And why will it taper off Mar Apr. Will it get bored?"

Apart from the bleeding obvious change of weather, I don't really know, I'm just quoting a medical fact with reference to SEASONAL (note) 'flu.

But good question. Would love to know why 'flu tapers off in Spring. Maybe google knows.

It's new so everyone can get it at once. If we all get it in a short period of time there will be more demand than the NHS will be able to cope with so lots of unnecessary deaths.

From what I can gather in any given year in the UK upto 11% of the population contract flu (6m ish) resulting in on average 17,000 deaths. I just don't get it, UK deaths are now upto 55 & cases of C19 are still in 3 figures? In any given year if we monitor flu like we are with C19 it would probably exactly the same if not worse. I'm starting to think this could be disaster movie where government & the WHO have cast themselves in the lead roles. Am I missing something? 55 deaths is fk all,

And the market continues to fall and have they announced short-selling bans?

Oh no, can't spoil the activities of their city mates.

FWIW My opinion, gleaned from various info:

Due to over population and deforestation, species that would not normally meet are being forced into smaller and smaller areas. They are being caged and sold for food at unregulated markets around the world.

As H G Wells said a long time ago: Humans have earned the right to live on this planet as billions of us have died over millenniums so that the survivors acquire immunity.
Sadly, as a species, we are actively digging up viruses that we are not immune to and distribution is fast and all encompassing.

We are now aliens on our own planet. Let’s hope our technology can help.

I don’t currently subscribe to the anti Asian conspiracies. Maybe us westerners are just not used to bat and monkey soup?

Enjoying your portfolio folks?

LOL

If Boris hadn't dithered and was stronger we would have cancelled all flights from Italy and other areas months ago. We could still be in the contact tracing and limitation stage.

But oh no, the Tories always put economics first and now find themselves on the cliff edge of a total UK economic catastrophe.

Oh dear.

Not looking good, not looking good at all.

Sadiq Khan "Many of our businesses rely on cash flow" on Adam Bolton right now. He obviously knows of many that don't! Then goes on to boast of his invitation to COBRA.
That's why this idiot is the Mayor of London and not of the City.
God help us if Shaun Bailey, the king of "We need Funding" to keep certain types off the streets, gets in the nest time. He obviously wants street crime taken to another level in free lush Youth Clubs (Criminal Schools) for tower block thugs!

Stop any payments to the EU. Stop HS2. Stop all non essential government spending and make sure we have enough cash to spend on the people when they have no money to live after they have no jobs as a result of this virus.

Mike,
Agree with your post 751.

Major change is coming to the economic landscape are coming.

"Just in time" has been shown to have serious problems as does over reliance on one nation for 90% of ones imports of certain products.

See USA and China for Pharmaceuticals for instance.
India reliant on China for API's -Active Pharmaceutical ingredients for drugs.
