Next question - which Tory backers run mints and media outlets???

Dodgy dealings in plain sight.

In the meantime the media campaign funded by the state that the UK will definitely be leaving at the end of October with many featuring a calendar counting down to the end of the month continues to run.

You trust these guys to manage the economy?

The comedy rolls on - Sajid Javid had reportedly ordered three million celebratory 50p coins minted in time for Brexit (31/10/19). Production has been stopped. Great collectors pieces.

That is a waste of money. Highlights the lack of any proper forward thinking.

"The eu has said it would welcome the UK back at any time. Rightly or wrongly implementing a leave won't be the end of the world. If a party or parties want to run a campain for returning, at least after a set period... you have to give it a chance, that is democratic. "

Nothing democratic about it when the EU make it impossible for us to continue to trade normally,as they will, when they refuse to negotiate over fish.

The whole Boris/EU thing is a set up to OVER RULE the democratic will of 2016 and get the fanatic remainers to push push and push to get us back in.

IMHO this was ALWAYS the plan.

Further to my earlier post about the divisions in No 10, Boris Johnson has repeatedly refused to rule out the UK leaving the EU on 31 October, contradicting statements made by the chancellor this morning. “Of course 31 October is still possible,” Johnson said. That is the team spirt!

Maybe Cummings new strategy - appear like a load of loonies so that EU gets so fed up that it grants an extension of 10 minutes.

Or it could of course be 31/10/2069.

Alp... I take your point. The eu has said it would welcome the UK back at any time. Rightly or wrongly implementing a leave won't be the end of the world. If a party or parties want to run a campain for returning, at least aftet a set period... you have to give it a chance, that is democratic. There are risks in any type of feedback system if you start changing the inputs faster than the outputs can respond, once settled it is safe to change the requirement again... But systems tend to go chaotic if they dont get to a stable state. An engineering analogy admittedly but also observed in just about any closed feedback system.

General Election. A good idea. It really allows Democracy, meaning the Will of the People, to be expressed and so Democracy is reaffirmed as Rule of the People, by the People for the People. It tells all about where we are and the direction we want to go.Democracy is Honesty

1carus - The Swiss 2014 Immigration referendum is somewhat of a parallel. The Nationalist UDC sponsored the referendum and ran a heavy hate campaign (eg immigrants are black sheep etc) and heavily anti EU. The referendum passed.
Now Switzerland is very used to referenda. The government was bound to implement the result. Problem. How do you implement something that the government believes will damage the country???

The discussion around implementation took years. During that time the population realised that the result was not smart at all. The eventual implementation was harshly criticized by the Swiss People's Party (UDC), which sponsored the original referendum. The party called the plan "a betrayal of voters' wishes". Today the whole idea has little support and Switzerland remains a member of Schengen.
The UDC itself is fast losing support.

Sorry Min ... I can't quite see where I contradicted myself. The argument often put against brexit is that the brexiteer did not no what they voted for. I voted for remain.. But at the time I had not considered the fact that we would be losing our veto.. for many that would be quite a change on their perception of remaining. I will agree that we all know a lot more from both sides of this argument. But I guess my point was that since leave did win the referendum it seems absurd to push for removing a specific type of leave, particularly When it is removed once a deal is excepted.. But we are not removing the possible withdrawal of artical 50... which is the opposition's, all of them, desire as much as no deal is for Boris arguably.

The big issue I think and the frustration for most now is not brexit, but the fact that it is clear that the majority in the house are against the outcome of a democratic referendum vote... as time goes on that will play into the hands of the tories.
