We are compelled to run our economy for the benefit of the EU and not for the benefit of the U.K. anybody who does not understand this is has not been able to weigh the desperate necessity for Brexit by 31st October at the latest!However as the PM has surrendered the Government to a Parliamentary coup and cooperated to trash our constitution, he is just another a rudderless May.I will never vote Tory again.

oldtimerPosted October 24, 2019 at 12:46 pm | PermalinkI was astonished to hear, on the BBC`s WATO, Labour MP Ben Bradshaw describe Brexit as a "minor issue".That, it seems to me, is a measure of the incomprehension of a committed Remainer of the views of those who voted for Brexit. I imagine he might want to revoke Article 50 too. He, and others of the same thinking, should be careful what they wish for. If he imagines that all 17.4 million people who voted for Brexit would accept quietly its result being overturned obviously does not understand the British.

The saga never stops - tonight the Press Association is quoting an unnamed No 10 source (they don't use twitter) as saying the government would pull the withdrawal agreement bill if MPs refuse their timetable.

It is also being reported that the November 6 budget may also get pulled.

Sublime to the ridiculous if true.

For now let's go back to..Who's said checks are not good. Ok, borders check will create more work but warranty no smaclers no illegal immigrants and less drugs too. Checks ill save lifes 4sure. 4000 containers come every day from Belgium alone to uk...The authorities there they know about this problem from 2016...The numbers enter this country is unknown to authorities here.

Madame Brexit called an election two years ago to win a big majority for her hard, Tory Brexit but voters rejected this by voting against her.

A major part of the core Conservative vote, i.e. the elderly, rejected proposals that would hit them in the pocket. Boris won't make that mistake.

And who the hell might Madame Brexit be? Not that evil old hag who fought against real Brexit, surely?

So this election attempt presumably a gambit to convince the EU to offer a shorter extension and embarrass Labour.

Let’s just take a moment to think about Boris Johnson’s “do or die” promise that the UK would leave the EU on 31 October.

This evening’s call for a general election on 12 December is his first admission that he will not deliver on the pledge he said he’d rather “be dead in a ditch” than break.
