"I expect junker will keep us word"

It is not up to Juncker you prat. He was promising something he personally can't deliver.

Alps - "Very childish as most of the posters will agree, at least privately. No doubt these posters have the general habit of mailing unsigned cheques. Lol"

No, he doesn't agree to it, so why sign it. He said that it was Parliament's letter, not his, which is undeniably the case.

He was forced to send it by MPs who are defying the result of the referendum, so why should he give in to those undemocratic forces.

Using the term "childish" does not reflect his action in any way, all it shows is the rebels trying to belittle Boris.

Boris has broken the law, I have no doubt. Why do we require signatures in the first place? Not only has he broken the law by not requesting an extension (no proof it was him), he has gone further and undermined the spirit of it by writing the 3rd.

Whatever you may believe in we cannot have a PM that has both contempt for the law and parliament.

Not a bad idea to sell half. I might buy half tomorrow if we see prices drop?

Parliament is now an impediment to democracy! They decided did they not? to allow a long standing promise to decide whether or not we stay in the EU after it became clear we had enough of "handbag threats" to keep us from being disadvantaged at every turn! We clearly did not want "The law according to Brussels"!

Alp, a cheque is an order to your bank. The letter is nothing like that at all, so no idea what you're trying to say.The EU knows the UK is asking about an extension, and furthermore know that boris personally doesn't want one. With a bit of luck, I expect junker will keep us word and no extension will be granted. If the EU wants to function and if the UK wants to function then the request will rightly and sensibly be denied. Here's hoping democracy finally prevails. Then we can get on with the job of booting out and ensuring all current nondemocrat MPs never be in a position of any type of public service ever again.

You just can't sign an order (cheque) or other if the account belongs to the referendum winners who will not endorse!

Of-course he should not sign a delay request, he prime minister B Johnson is not seeking a delay just a couple of days after pulling off a virtually impossible deal to leave on the 31st PRONTO!
He sent a letter as directed by a (not for the people) Parliament to keep in line with a misdirected law!

Below from the above post Sir John Redwood clearly sums it up...Bojo deliberately didn't sign the letter as it is an indirect request from those opposing Brexit...he is putting that letter forward to seek the response from the EU hoping it will be a no extension response...if I have understood correctly...

I think the PM should set out his legal case for not sending a signed letter, and for sending a clear indication that he does not want a delay. More importantly he should talk to the nation about why the Benn Act is just the Breaking the PMs promises Act I described yesterday which should not be deemed good law. The last thing we need now is delay.

That letterBy JOHNREDWOOD | Published: OCTOBER 20, 2019Yesterday I wrote about the Benn Act requiring the PM to send a letter asking for a delay to our exit date. I did so because I assumed the government would lose the Letwin amendment, and assumed there would be no vote on the Withdrawal Agreement. Those who want to know how I voted should know I voted against the Letwin amendment.Today we need to think about what the PM should do over delay. The UK has already had two delay requests accepted. There does not seem to be any point in a further delay. The EU is not going to negotiate further. The EU is understandably indicating it does not welcome a further delay request and would not rush to assemble a new Council to respond to one.I think the PM should set out his legal case for not sending a signed letter, and for sending a clear indication that he does not want a delay. More importantly he should talk to the nation about why the Benn Act is just the Breaking the PMs promises Act I described yesterday which should not be deemed good law. The last thing we need now is delay. The debate about Brexit needs moving on. It is not a debate between no deal and deal. No deal is a whole set of agreements and arrangements for a clean WTO exit which is the best outcome from here. This is not a debate about the minutiae of customs arrangements, but a debate about the restoration of a free and independent country. We want an accountable democracy. This Parliament is the lackey of Brussels, seeking to block the people's Decision.

When is a letter not a letter? That is the question that will now exercise the EU, various lawyers and the traitors.

In important situations an unsigned letter will be as valueless as an unsigned cheque.

From another bb:
All the remain MPs will be begging Boris to bring his deal back to parliament on Oct 30th when they realise we're on the eve of leaving with no deal.
