M - Tesco learnt first hand with 'Fresh & Easy'. Not as easy as the armchair warriors thought.
Fresh & Easy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and the close down cost Tesco around £2bn.

Brexiters are deluded to think they can sell anything into the US market and compete on cost. They have economies of scale and no Atlantic Ocean shipping costs to their advantage. That is why people trade with their neighbours here in Europe.

If you run out of milk on a Sunday do you pop to the convenience store two counties away?

Erm, no.

Why not? Same stupid Brexiter brain ideas would have you doing that!

Donald Trump says EU has been 'anchor' around Britain as he promises 'very big' trade deal with US

Edward Malnick, in biarritz
25 AUGUST 2019 • 8:17AM

The EU has been an “anchor” around the ankles of Britain, Donald Trump said, as he promised a “very big trade deal” with the US after Brexit.

Donald Trump has said Boris Johnson is the "right man" to deliver Brexit, as the two leaders met for their first face-to-face talks since Mr Johnson entered Downing Street.

The US President suggested that under Theresa May progress on talks over a post-Brexit trade deal between the US and UK had been "stymied".

Mr Johnson is a "different person" who will make a "great Prime Minister", he added.

The US President said the Prime Minister "needs no advice" on orchestrating the UK's exit from the EU, insisting: "He is the right man for the job".

Boris Johnson threatens EU over Brexit divorce bill and raises general election stakes

No 10 wargames early vote as Tory lead grows

Tim Shipman, Caroline Wheeler and Rosamund Urwin
August 25 2019, 12:01am,
The Sunday Times

Boris Johnson will today put Britain on an election footing by warning Brussels that he will slash more than £30bn from the EU divorce bill in the event of a no-deal Brexit.

His tough stance, intended to win over Brexit Party supporters, comes as the prime minister’s team are working on a populist emergency budget in October, in which fuel duty will be cut for the first time in eight years, paving the way for a general election the same month.

The prospects of a Conservative majority grew last night when a YouGov poll for this newspaper put the Tories on 33%, 12 points clear of Labour — their largest lead with that pollster since the 2017 general election. The survey also put the Liberal Democrats…

It might all be a smoke screen - the efforts being made by Boris and his team to deal with the many domestic issues whilst pursuing Brexit; but I have no reason to believe that Boris is doing anything other than running the most proactive government that I can recall.

IF he carries on like this, and IF those wishing to destroy the UK in pursuit of their own political agendas, whether it be membership of the EU, or a neo-Marxist style government, or both, don't bring him down, he'll go down in history as one of the best PMs we've ever had.

But it's early days and I mustn't get carried away! Let's just say that he's made a very good start.

We will do everything in our power to help businesses seize the vast opportunities of Brexit

October 31 will be a historic day for the United Kingdom – the day we finally act on the will of the people and leave the European Union. As a truly Brexit-backing Business Secretary, my number one priority for the 67 days ahead is to ensure that businesses are well prepared.

My message to them is clear: prepare for Brexit, and the superb opportunities that lie ahead will be yours.

One of my first engagements as Secretary of State was to meet with businesses from across the country to talk about the potential for UK growth, jobs and opportunity.

I met large manufacturing firms that trade across borders, retailers operating in different markets and innovative small businesses that export their...
