24/8/2019 16:28 | A good example is the EU. Wealthy EU. countries contribute into the EU. budget to ensure that poorer countries develop infrastructure, sewage treatment, internet, transport, food standards. We contribute about 1% of GDP, Germany more. The EU. is environmentally aware with high standards and targets. It costs and slows down growth, but it is the direction we should all be moving towards. Enlightened elf interest, one day these will become markets for our goods. The UK give additional overseas aid of about 1.5% of GDP to third world countries. | careful
24/8/2019 16:20 | Just to make a living enough to just eat, They kill Rhino just to sell their valuable horns. They burn down Brazilian rainforests to make a living from timber and agriculture. They dump tons of rubbish including plastic into the sea. We would do the same in their position. The answer is obvious; Huge financial incentives from wealthy countries to poor countries to encourage good behaviour. It will cost. | careful

24/8/2019 14:01 | careful go to the poor countries with huge population growth and every where is a rubbish dump.the rives and the sea are favourite and where does it all end up??? that is your answer,i recommend you to see more of the world and its happening in front of your eyes.. over population is going to come back and bite humanity far more than supposed new global climate change which of course is all part of it,deforestation being a huge problem to a balanced air quality... | lippy4
24/8/2019 12:38 | I'd say so careful. Paid to deliver x tonnes. Save a fortune with a massive sea dump. Deliver 1 tonne lol | sentimentrules
24/8/2019 12:33 | What happens to the pollution in the atmosphere if we switch everything off? does it stay at (say) 250ppm, or is it self correcting. All the fuss about the hole in the ozone layer a few years ago. Apparently it has disappeared. The main problem is over population by filthy selfish humans. All of this about plastic in the oceans. People in the Midlands stop using plastic because it gets into the ocean. It is quite obvious that all of these ships who take rubbish to overseas waste disposal facilities abroad just dump the stuff overboard when they are at sea, then go back for another load. Good business, just a drop in the ocean. I am convinced it comes from ships at sea dumping stuff overboard. | careful
24/8/2019 12:33 | Trump practicing his speech to the G7 on Air Force One..... I hereby order the DOW to rocket and make America Great Again! 24/8/2019 12:26 | Today....under scrutiny right? Wasn't everything in its infancy Very ok to invest today in the base installation.. .and upgrade the carbon reduction batteries as they come on line...but probably end up with virtual storage as Alphorn pointed out anyway | sentimentrules
24/8/2019 12:23 | Lippy It's the whole point of R&D. It will exist. Same as in medicine etc. R&D As for current carbon footprint levels, What's the stats on current technology for green electric v traditional methods? Batteries included. | sentimentrules

24/8/2019 12:10 | Not matter if it costs the same in the end. Not even mind if clean air costs a bit more really | sentimentrules
24/8/2019 12:07 | Saudi are pumping mega billions into alternatives. Right now they class it as a hedge against an oil-less future. Saudi vision 2030 expects to see it's alternatives fund at 2 trillion, up from 250 billion.. funded from current crude profits. Seems a bit more than a hedge...... A huge proportion is going into battery R&D via the likes of greencell etc. The extent of the Chinese progress into renewables is remarkable, albeit not reported on much. Again, monies that go beyond hedge against oil. America is catching on. Dropping on average 1-2% a year reliance on oil, is the next two decade outlook. Whatever way it turns out, the air you breathe will be that little less toxic, for each of us that switch. | sentimentrules
24/8/2019 12:06 | careful Good comment. Not many ask such questions because they do need to be answered. You can also pretty much guarantee that those who control the commodities required in such batteries will make sure pricing continually gets higher and higher. You are already seeing it with Glencore's projected cobalt mine closure. | minerve 2
24/8/2019 11:54 | How much energy do they need to charge all of these batteries. Where does that power come from, and how clean is it. And these batteries deteriorate, how much energy and resource is needed to make new batteries. Battery worshippers think they can change the laws of physics. I bet the true cost of battery power is significantly greater than energy from fossil fuels. | careful
24/8/2019 11:38 | They have cut back on the feed in tariffs, however when battery storage gets better, big gas and electric bills might be just a memory. | mikemichael2 |
