23/2/2019 22:46 | Illegal to do so, tariffs a problem too. Any country we want major or minor whenever it suits us, compatible with freedom from the protectionist racket that is the EU. Agree immigrants are valuable...no argument. Control of immigration and open borders the issue. Good questions simple answers. willoicc spot on too. Bed calls, off walking tomoz in Derbyshire hills. | cheshire pete
23/2/2019 22:23 | "Agree need immigrants, we also need control of immigration to prevent our public services and infrastructure being overloaded." It so happens that most of those immigrants actually provide the services which we demand. You know, rather than just focusing on what Nigel would like you to focus on, think about all those immigrants who are GPs, consultants and nurses etc.. We aren't suddenly going to have 100,000s of British born equivalents. | minerve
23/2/2019 22:20 | cheshire pete23 Feb '19 - 22:06 - 247456 of 247457 "Being in Customs Union and freedom to make trade deals with non EU countries are mutually exclusive, thus remaining in customs union is not leaving EU." Why isn't it satisfactory to make trade deals as part of the customs union? Which major country do you want a separate trade deal with and why? | minerve
23/2/2019 22:13 | We will not have left the EU until we leave with no deal, then negotiate a new trading relationship, without being under EU jackboot duress. | willoicc
23/2/2019 22:06 | Being in Customs Union and freedom to make trade deals with non EU countries are mutually exclusive, thus remaining in customs union is not leaving EU. Yes, WTO rules. Agree need immigrants, we also need control of immigration to prevent our public services and infrastructure being overloaded. Nothing new here, all been said before ad nauseam. Another good forecast tomoz have a good day all. | cheshire pete

23/2/2019 21:59 | Cheshire We leave the EU. If we decide to stay in a relationship - say Customs Union, for example - we have still left! We will have to agree to something IN ORDER TO TRADE EFFICIENTLY. We will NEED immigrants. Best swallow that matey boy, you won't choke on your own ignorance if you swallow! Immigration will happen, guaranteed. Maybe it will have to be a little stealthy to ease the strain on your little brain. ;) | minerve
23/2/2019 21:56 | hxxp://www.morningst Wall: And what's the third stock pick? Buxton: The third stock is an old favorite of mine. It's Lloyds Bank. At the moment, it is sort of going up and down on Brexit news and perceptions. But I think, again, get beyond Brexit then actually the earnings power of this bank is in no way reflected in the valuation. It's a hugely capital generative bank now. The opportunity there for it to continue to both buy back shares and offer very significant dividend growth I don't think is reflected in the valuation. They still trade at a modest discount to book value. Wall: And you hinted there – do you expect the dividend will be raised over coming years, because Lloyds used to be a stalwart of any income portfolio, but then it absolutely fell from favour? Buxton: Yes, of course. No, I think, it very much will be able to crank out dividends. I mean, with the shares trading where they are today, I can understand why they are devoting some of the money to buying back stock. But I think at the fullness of time this is a bank that could be generating dividends of 5p a share perhaps, which you know, on today's 56p share price, you know, that's pretty compelling. | jrphoenixw2
23/2/2019 21:55 | It is a bit like a chump divorcing his wife - with who he has children - and then whinging that he isn't divorced because he has to ferry the kids home from school one day! "I'm not divorced 100%!" ROFLMAO! | minerve

23/2/2019 21:42 | Sturgeon very quiet at the minute BB...any idea what's going on? Not normal for prolonged spells of silence from north of the border, seems odd. | cheshire pete
23/2/2019 21:39 | No degrees of leave Minerve, just leave, completely out 100%. Ballot paper didn't say 50% leave or 75% leave or 52% leave....just LEAVE....simple enough. | cheshire pete
23/2/2019 21:30 | And the Hard-Brexiters continue to pretend they have the mandate of all the Leave voters. Laughable. But do continue with your fantasy. | minerve
23/2/2019 21:28 | Mrs May should reflect on this hard question: Is it easier to replace 200-300 Tory candidates for election, or is it easier to replace millions of Tory voters at the next election who feel they have been betrayed by the Tory government's failure to deliver a proper Brexit? | willoicc

This would be obvious to a 10 year old and it will certainly be obvious to the electorate. The remainer extremists are actively working to harm this country and have abandoned all pretense to the contrary." Well said Grahimite2.....brill | cheshire pete
23/2/2019 20:20 | I've decided to stick with Firefox and open ADVFN in a Safari window for now. Not ideal, but I hope Firefox push the bug up their priority list and get it fixed as soon as possible. | minerve
23/2/2019 20:03 | I've used Safari. Nothing against it but it is mainly an Apple thing. I very reluctantly tried Chrome but didn't care for it. Opera is good and always well reviewed, but it doesn't work with some important things like IG. I think these days the Microsoft browsers aren't all bad. But I don't like any of them as much as the Firefox of 10 years ago, say. | grahamite2

23/2/2019 19:46 | EU investors actually moving to UK. That wasn't in the script The narrative of a mass exodus of City jobs has already been consigned to the Project Fear dustbin of history, with just 2,000 jobs now expected to move in the event of no-deal, compared to wild predictions of over 230,000 before the referendum. Now the FT of all places is reporting that EU asset managers are actually considering moving to the UK because of Brexit. That wasn’t in the script… Source orderorder | xxxxxy
