03/1/2019 13:12 | Gardeners could be in short supply after Brexit, warn MPs and peers Christopher Hope, chief political correspondent 2 JANUARY 2019 • 9:30PM Gardeners could be in short supply after Brexit unless they are included in official immigration quotas, a cross-party group of MPs and peers is warning. The All-Party Gardening and Horticulture Group is calling on the Home Office to include “ornamental horticulture” in its new seasonal workers scheme. Ornamental horticulture is defined as “the study of growing, arranging and tending decorative plants and flowers”. The MPs and peers said there were real concerns about whether the 60,000 annual vacancies would be filled after the UK leaves the European Union in three months' time. A report from the group – Securing the Future of the Garden and Horticulture Sector – there was a “heavy reliance... More disaster here: | ![]() maxk

03/1/2019 12:18 | As I said a day or two ago: Jacko hasn't got the mindset to be an investor because he cannot develop decent rationale. Minerve..number 1..The UK do not buy much gas from Russia, maybe 2%. number 2..you do not know me, I would not want to know you, you do not have a clue about my investing, so don't presume you do. number 3..I have met many dorks like you in my life, you are a minority on this board. Drone on and on with the same speel day after day like a broken record, you have failed miserably to change the mind of one person. You are a prime example of the whining, low intellect Remainer. Immature, unable to grasp other people's views, full of spite and rancour. I feel sorry for you..You are not well, you need help. | ![]() jacko07
03/1/2019 11:55 | Russia is an important gas supplier to the West. And a reliable and trustworthy one. Merkel and Trump argue about this but Germany would trust Russia before Trump's America. The war in Syria is about the important pipeline passing through that country, Russia and the official Syrian government have an agreement to protect this asset, so Trump was right to quit and bring his troops home. I know that the children are told Putin and Assad are baddies, but if you read around you can get to the truth. | ![]() careful

03/1/2019 11:47 | Oh dear Jacko as others have pointed out Energy and gas are two different things. Unless of course you think Putin has control of the wind blowing and the sun rising. I hope you are a bit more diligent with your investment research than with your ad-hoc 'facts'. | ![]() prewar

03/1/2019 11:40 | jacko..Germany get about 50% from Russia. I see your point, if Russia turned it off, it would be a disaster for Germany, hence Merkel being so nice to Putin. | exlogicalad

03/1/2019 11:40 | There'a big difference between "Gas" and "Energy", not to mention that they aren't "relying" on them, they are merely purchasing it from them due to it being cheaper. | ![]() ladeside

03/1/2019 11:31 | prewar..I thought that it was common knowledge that Germany are dependent on Russia for their gas. I would hate to be relying on Putin for anything. Cheshire, you are right about Remainers, they cannot see the wood for the trees. | ![]() jacko07

03/1/2019 11:27 | Stoned you seem to describe the EU.as a capitalist racket, out to exploit the working classes. But many on the right wing of this country take the opposite view, it is too much socialism, too many benefits, too high taxes and protection of workers rights. From healthcare to unemployment benefits to maternity leave, many argue that entitlements are too generous and kill incentives to work. Look at the problems in France, Greece and now Italy. They want job protection, early retirement, increased pensions. Do you remember the row between the EU. and Greece? Germany had to be the main provider of funds to Greece, and argued it was unfair to provide taxpayers money to Greece when the retirement age in Germany was 67 and Greece refused to increase theirs to 60. Greece refused to be 'bullied' by Germany and wanted them to pay up and go away. Now Italy is increasing its debt to have a big give away, and expect the ECB to buy their debt at low interest rates. | ![]() careful |
