Germany burns the filthy stuff called coal. Routine.

Green credentials just filthy.

Germany is dependent on outside sources of energy andits price shocks.

Germany is vulnerable to energy. Always was and stil is.

"Some still claim that

ERM and EMU could control capital, but actually they were and are attacks on the

working class."

The ERM kept the poor countries poor; it did not help them to converge; it

certainly did not help them to meet the Maastricht criteria. Spain's experience of

ERM was catastrophic: 22% unemployed. The ERM forced Denmark into recession:

unemployment doubled to 12%, the budget was slashed, and investment, output and

wages all fell. In the ERM, Ireland's unemployment soared from 11% to 23%. ERM

subordinated nations' economic interests to minorities' foreign policy goals:

ruling class interests dominated working class interests. Some still claim that

ERM and EMU could control capital, but actually they were and are attacks on the

working class.

careful, LOL!

Stonedyou is a prat.

No, we are not in the € but we are the entrance to it. London clears more € trade than any other EU country. Well it did, before Brexit. Kiss goodbye to that too! Bye Bye! 👋👋

Amusing how Stoned recognises that people have more money in their pockets and that we are the sixth largest economy and thriving.

But we are still members of the EU.and have been for 40 years.
If you were logical you would be a remainer.
Why would you want to risk all of the things you listed by making a drastic change?

Some of us believe that much of our success comes from our great relationship with the Eu.

Happy New Year GNR, Yes, but that would still be less than 22% of "energy" as opposed to the 70% quoted by Jacko Trump.

The real story here is that any fool can surely see that the increased "threats" from the the likes of both Russia & China are purely Economic threats to US dominance and have absolutely nothing to do with security.

Of course the lapdog UK Gov are always happy to bark when ordered by their US masters, although sending a research ship to the Ukraine as a show of force is rather bizarre even by our own standards.

In reality it's about as intimidating as the Caledonian MacBrayne "Loch Shira" Largs to Millport ferry.............

Happy New Year LADESIDE.....(it could indeed rise to 60 to 70 percent)
Nord Stream alone can supply 1/2 of Europe!
“Germany is totally controlled by Russia because they are getting from 60 to 70 percent of their energy from Russia and a new pipeline.”

Like Donald Jacko just made it up lol,
Pete your right he has the quality needed for PM.

"Trump is exaggerating Germany's reliance on Russia for energy
President Donald Trump claimed Germany could soon rely on Russia for up to 70 percent of its energy.
While Germany gets about half of its natural gas from Russia, the claim is highly misleading.
Natural gas is a significant fuel source in Germany, but it only accounts for about 20 percent of Germany's energy supply and consumption."

Hey Jacko, please post the source behind Russia providing 70% of Germany's energy, sounds unlikely.
