02/1/2019 16:40 | Not in my town 4 Banks gone in 18 months . Bank of Scotland was the last to shut down , which I thought was a stupid move given Clydesdale, RBS and TSB had already closed. Numbers were actually going up . | ![]() bargainbob
02/1/2019 16:39 | Very good point stewart64. They continue to run the loss making services in hope that brand strength, loyalty, cross-selling and up-selling continues. But will it? | minerve
02/1/2019 16:28 | In my area Lloyds appears to be the only bank keeping a physical presence on the high street. Oddly I slightly worry about this. To start with the service appears to be slightly akin to a social service helping professional queue blockers carry out low intelligent queries and assist them in loss making activities such as current account transactions, changing coppers they've been saving up and micro business banking. It's very laudable of Lloyds to be the only bank left in many small towns, but it's a business not a social service for wealthy boomers who pay zero charges and probably have their investments elsewhere. | ![]() stewart64

02/1/2019 14:40 | Donator | Definition of Donator by Merriam-Webster donator (noun) definition and synonyms | Macmillan Dictionary donator | Definition of donator in English by Oxford Dictionaries Oh sorry, we need to use Grahamite's superior dictionary. LOL But it all distracts from the original comment by someone on the BBC website referring to the government incompetence at this ferry contract. Perhaps grahamite, in the aid of promoting business, we should give a contract to those who can't read, write and speak English to create a new English dictionary for us! You can head that one up seeing as you've had no previous experience at running a business. LOL | minerve

02/1/2019 14:27 | Poor old sharp suited Hunt, cap in hand in Singapore looking for some sort of deal to open a couple of Naval bases and repeat history! A far cry from the days when a distant predecessor with his job title would have walked off a warship gangplank in khaki shorts, pith-hat and leather shoulder strap flaunting a Webley double action service revolver, referring to the local hierarchy as Coolies! "Singapore's ministers are the best paid in the world. Prior to a salary review in 2011, the Prime Minister's annual salary was S$3.07 million, while the pay of ministerial-grade officers ranged between S$1.58 million and S$2.37 million". Whose LOLLING now! | gotnorolex
02/1/2019 14:21 | 12 big wins from leaving in March on WTO terms By JOHNREDWOOD | Published: DECEMBER 28, 2018 1 Far from crashing out, we will be cashing in.We will get our money back to spend on our priorities. We will be better off. 2 We get control of our taxes allowing us to cut VAT along with other taxes. This will boost our growth rate and give all taxpayers a Brexit bonus. 3.We can hire more nurses, doctors, teachers, and police, and improve our social care with money saved from the EU 4. We can sign new trade agreements with the rest of the world to boost the majority of our trade currently with non EU countries. 5. We can remove tariffs on imported components to provide a boost to UK manufacturing. 6. We can restore and expand our fishing and fish processing industry. 7. We can have a farming and tariff policy that means we grow much more of food locally, cutting the food miles. 8. We can control migration and have a policy good for UK business and society. 9. We can make our own laws and refuse EU ones which are damaging. 10. We will end all the uncertainty for business 11. We can end the rows and the wild and usually pessimistic speculation about Brexit. We can turn to talking about other natters, and bring the nation together in discussing how to use the money and freedoms we have gained from exit. 12. We will become a self governing democracy again. Leaving the EU us not a threat or a disease, but a huge opportunity. | ![]() xxxxxy
