Poikka,

The EU has never negotiated in good faith because they never had any intention of signing an FTA.

All they wanted was "MONEY"

To keep those monthly contributions going for as long as possible..

And how well they have done.

So far 4 years extra of tribute post our vote to LEAVE the EU.

Four + years.

Imagine what we could have done with that extra £60bn odd (£80bn gross, post rebate deduction)

Bishops in the Lords side with the EU against the majority wish for the U.K. to be independent.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Boris would stand up in the Commons and say, who cares what these senile old men say? I have no more interest in what they think about anything than in the thoughts of an embankment derelict.

"the EU would act in good faith to agree a future permanent arrangement that enshrines UK sovereignty and secures a Free Trade Agreement."

I think the wording was that 'both sides' should act in good faith. Never mind, it's been as clear as day for months that the EU has NOT been acting in good faith.

Why the single market damaged the UK economyBy JOHNREDWOOD | Published: OCTOBER 19, 2020As a young man one of my first votes was in the original referendum on whether to stay in the EEC, misleadingly called the Common Market during the campaign. I was against the language in the Rome Treaty that warned us this was much more than a Common Market in the making, and disliked the Labour government's lies about the nature and long term aims of the body. I also was asked to produce a decade forecast of the outlook for the UK if we stayed in by my employer. As I drafted it five problems became clear. The first was the burden of our financial contributions was too high, and these would produce a nasty dent in our balance of payments as we sent that money away and it was converted into foreign currencies. I did not know or forecast Margaret Thatcher would become PM and negotiate a better deal, which limited the damage a bit – or that I would help her.The second was the UK's industry which had management and Union issues, some old capital stock and poor nationalised industries like steel and shipbuilding that were not cost effective. This meant it was going to have to face the full frontal assault of German and French competition with the full removal of tariffs before it was ready to withstand those pressures. My forecasts rightly assumed we would lose a lot of capacity in areas like steel, cars, foundries, ship building and textiles. Our car output halved in the first decade of membership. The third was in the areas of services where the UK had a good competitive advantage the considerable barriers to trade were going to remain in place. As a result I reported a major and long lasting deterioration in our balance of payments as imports of foreign goods surged, exports of services were still limited and as we had to make new large payments away. The fourth was the dreadful deal on fish, bound to damage our industry substantially. The fifth was the complete removal of tariffs from EEC food, the imposition of tariffs on Commonwealth food, and the hugely damaging impact the EEC would have on areas like fruit and market garden produce.Later policies as the EU emerged and increased its wide ranging legislative grip also drove us into importing everything from defence equipment to electricity. It was a great scheme for continental exporters. In those days running a balance of payments deficit required stringent credit and money control which slowed growth.

Yes all true but nevertheless lumber prices have more than doubled. A case of supply and demand.?..with the problem this time being the Supply !There's going to be a shortage of everything with a second lockdown....in theory.Any economist will tell you that if you put more money into a system but don't increase supply to match demand the inevitable result will be inflation. There is a price to pay (excuse pun) for all that Fiat money...mark my words. It's like there's an iceberg ahead but nobody believes it can sink us.

Recording an interview with Gove, they have to use wildlife cameras that are proofed against the fine spray of water needed to maintain his skin moistness in the studio. They borrow this kit from the reptile house at the London Zoo.

FBI 'Has To Come Clean' About Corruption Evidence, Potential Child Porn On Hunter Biden's Laptop: Sen. Johnson

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) is calling on the FBI to 'come clean' over the agency's involvement with Hunter Biden's laptop, after refusing to 'confirm or deny' certain details contained in a whistleblower complaint by a Delaware computer shop owner.

"The FBI has a duty to inform us. If they believe this was maybe Russian disinformation, they should give us a defensive briefing," Johnson told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures."

"If, for example, they also believe that what information this whistleblower gave us is fraudulent, that would also be a crime, and FBI should tell us that."

Host Maria Bartiromo brought up a salient point - that the FBI was allegedly in possession of Hunter Biden's laptop which contains apparent evidence of pay-for-play corruption in Ukraine, at the same time Congressional Democrats were impeaching President Trump for asking Ukraine to investigate exactly that.

"If the FBI was in possession of these emails from Hunter Biden's computer indicating all of these payouts, why did they not make this public, as President Trump was being impeached in the Senate about Ukraine?"

Johnson replied: "the larger question really is; if they had this information - and these are genuine emails which would probably reveal all kinds of things that would have been very relevant to the impeachment case, why did they sit out? Are they covering up because Hunter Biden might be engaged in things that also maybe should have been investigated and possibly prosecuted? Dow we have two systems of justice? One for Democrats, one for Republicans, one for the well connected, vs. one for the rest of the Americans."

I think Help to Buy loans will become toxic... Adding to the possibility of another financial crisis..

"Now home buyers need to stump up 40 per cent deposits to get a mortgage as economic devastation from coronavirus threatens a new credit crunch"

"And the number of mortgages has fallen from 5,222 in March to 2,300 now, according to the financial data provider Moneyfacts.

The Bank of England survey shows lenders expect them to fall again over the next few months and defaults are also expected to rise at their fastest rate since the financial crisis."
