Afternoon Alp.

The cake appears to have a few worms in it, better to cut out the rotters now rather than leave it for argument later.

Good afternoon max - lining up suspects ready to blame?

May be only yourself to blame? Now that is a novel thought.

Probably get a better article from the Express.

British American Tobacco is now a top holding in almost half of income funds, compared with 38 per cent in January, while Imperial Brands is a top holding in 33 per cent of funds, compared with just 20 per cent in January. - FT

"It was estimated that more than £52bn in company dividends are at risk in the UK this year, according to data from Link Group. "

This year and next year and the year after....

Debt has to be paid back you know!

Income funds retreat from banks and move to tobacco in hunt for dividend - FT

"Half of funds that held HSBC and 95 per cent of funds that held Lloyds Banking Group in their top 10 cut their positions, meaning the lenders are no longer among their biggest holdings."

I told you about FCF to price on IMB how many months ago?

I actually didn't get burned by Woodford at all!

LOL

Just in the silly old man's mind.

In fact I did very well in the stocks I owned that Woodford also had in his portfolio. I still have some and they are delivering decent dividends regardless of COVID. I stayed clear of all the illiquid stuff and incubator type companies because that is where Minerve learned his trade - back on OFEX which made AIM stocks look like bluechips.

What Jacko has no comprehension of is what investing is all about. Buffet knows, Woodford knows and so does Minerve. Jacko hasn't got a frigging clue and is jealous.

The problem with Woodford was that he allowed his funds to get too big and he didn't have the time afforded to Buffett by Buffett's investors. He attempted to replace long-term compounded growth in companies that have long-term sustainable competitive advantage with a long tail-end of potentially very high-growth young companies that would deliver in a short/medium term period. The investors he attracted were not patient enough and unlike Buffett he failed to deliver the clear message that great growth comes from great patience.

freddie - for France, they seem relatively positive at the moment. As you say, difficult times ahead though.

Thanks Alphorn. I don't think the article was criticizing his handling of the pandemic but more about the state of their economy because of it.

They're stating France could be in very big trouble economically going forward. It doesn't read very well for them.

And before anyone accuses me of bias France won't be on their own as all countries are going to face some very hard times.

Not being allowed to smoke in public places is denying me the right to give people cancer.
It is an attack on my liberty.

The usual drivel. There is no evidence whatever that smoking causes any harm to third parties.

mm2 - it is a question of law - not emotions.

Rubbish. It is a question of a highly politicized judiciary. That girl has made her bed, let her lie in it.

freddie - that is not the noise that you get around here (in France). I have only heard positives about the handling of the pandemic. Be very careful of the FN.

Unfair on Minerve to be fair Jacko.

Many got burned by Woodford.

I count my lucky stars I avoided investing, despite being tempted because I liked his "original style"

As soon as he went off piste, down the "unquoted investment" route that was a red flag for me.

Minerve talking about his Woodford Portfolio!

Sad that you got that piece of Buffett advice wrong, it was 'Buy low sell high' not 'Buy high sell low' the Woodford way.

ROFLMAO

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz boring, petty and puerile.

Why are Remainers so childish.

Nothing emotions about it either.

I'd aid a foreigner before I helped a Remainer.
No emotion at all. Just a statement of fact.

"In fact I'd help any foreigner before I'd knowingly aid a Remainer these days".

Emotions, emotions. Don't use the word 'fact' as it does not sit well in you vocabulary.

"You are clearly bullish sterling so what have you done about it? Bought a field, a farm, several farms. Upsides/downsides or don't you know?"

What has being bullish sterling got to do with it???
Currency didn't come into it at all.

I bought the agricultural land for obvious reasons and investment isn't one of them.

This is the problem with you Remainers - everything revolves around primarily money.
