03/2/2020 21:37 | Is Nissan’s screeching U-turn on staying in the UK post-Brexit a sign that others will follow suit? MATTHEW LYNN Follow Matthew Lynn3 FEBRUARY 2020 • 7:02PM Nissan said leaving the EU would threaten its factory in the Sunderland. It may now ramp up production Its gleaming factories would be shifted to France or Spain. Investment would be cancelled. And its workers, those poor misled, lied-to souls who voted so enthusiastically to leave the EU, would be thrown back on to the unemployment lines, probably never to work again. If one company was emblematic of Project Fear it was Nissan. The Japanese car manufacturer warned repeatedly that it might have to close down production in Britain if we left the EU and didn’t secure a free trade deal that protected its supply chains, while hardcore Remainers constantly cited it as a prime example of the bitter irony that the people who voted for Brexit would be the ones to suffer most from it.... 03/2/2020 20:11 | From the media...not sure if it has been posted earlier... Boris Johnson has insisted Britain is ready to walk away from Brexit trade negotiations without a comprehensive deal rather than accept key EU demands. The prime minister said there was “no need” to accept Brussels’ demands for a “level playing field” on areas like worker’s rights, the environment, tax and state aid. | diku | |

03/2/2020 17:09 | Hospital for coronavirus built in 10 days opens in China. A hospital in the Chinese city of Wuhan for coronavirus patients was opened on Monday, after 10 days of construction. Another, bigger one is expected to open later this week. Meanwhile, millions of citizens of Wuhan are not allowed to leave the city. The Huoshenshan Hospital has 1,000 beds received first patients, however, there was no information about their condition or how many people were admitted. A project manager that worked on building the hospital told local media that, in normal conditions, a hospital of that size would require two years to be built. Construction work was uninterrupted since it started on January 24 and involved 7,000 laborers. Yes but the Great British brickies could have knocked one up bigger better and quicker It just wouldn't have had any doctors or nurses. | smartypants |
