How the doom-mongers got it wrong about Britain's Brexit economy

“The country’s finished,” snapped Hugh Grant last week, when asked about developments in the UK since mid-December. While an accomplished actor, when it comes to political and economic analysis the Notting Hill star fluffed his lines.

For whether Grant likes it or not, Boris Johnson’s emphatic election victory has sparked a burst of business optimism. Clarity on Brexit triggered a strong economic uptick in January, after three and a half years of political deadlock.

It shows the economy just recorded its best month in over a year. Confidence among

manufacturers saw its sharpest rise on record.

Firms also took on more staff, with permanent hiring up in January for the first

time since 2018. Ending the Brexit stand-off also inspired consumer confidence, as

house purchases and car sales picked up....

Looks like Aston are having problems too.

I knew the IPO and growth plans were built on sand. That was obvious.

This will be a laugh maxk the jocks have no self awareness whatsoever, that's why they go into pubs in their golf gear looking like Geoffrey from Rainbow. I wonder how many referendums they will have before they realise that theres more to this politics game than slamming their testicles in a tight fitting door & shouting 'freedom aaaagh'.

It's not bloody surprising with all the publicity engineered by the lovely Megan to persuade even more punters to commit financial fraud by claiming something they have no right to.

But because of the wonderful computer there are no paper records,to challenge any claims pre 2000, so the mug shareholders pay out again .

This was all along an anti tory vendetta conducted by the FCA

If the Jocks can grant themselves referendums at will via their own parliament, why did they wait so long?

@patientCap.

Grateful for the future updates on progress. Possibly the way forward for Internet imo, especially the further out from the City centre you go.

Sorry, ought to have been more specific, we used another firm as we are in a different region. It has a growing network of fibre optic cables in the region and which are then connected to directional transmitters. Unfortunately the nearest to us (2 miles away) sent its signal through the top of an oak tree about halfway which meant the signal wasn't adequate. We paid for a new transmitter further along the field which was angled to see us clearly. Works very well, cost us an extra £500, and also means other properties at our end can also receive a signal. They are now extending the cable our way so we were offered a free (government voucher funded) upgrade. Same monthly tariff. Will report further when installed!
