Laura Bailhache 31 Jan 2020 4:35PMFantastic stuff Nigel! We still need you, as much as we ever did (maybe more) to keep holding Tory feet to the fire. Boris seems legitimate on Brexit, but his party historically isn't and he has made various concessions in his WA which are not good news. There are manifold other problems such as the UN Migration Pact, HS2, Huwawei/5G and so on. This is only the beginning of Brexit and we must all remain vigilant. With you as our figurehead we can continue to push for what we want. Thank Goodness!

James Smith 31 Jan 2020 4:54PMJust been looking at the Guardian comments on Brexit articles.  95% of comments are actually hoping for the UK to fail economically just so they can say "told you so".Scumbags every one of them.   We really do have an enemy within.

One thing for sure is there will be a lot of posturing, a lot grandstanding and a lot of bluff from the new Europe which has just lost one of the Big 3, are Italy going to be Mama Bear now.

When it comes to the crunch, how can they afford to play super Hardball, they have just admitted that behind closed doors the mandarins admit they blew it, letting the UK go, admit complacency got us here, what more idiocy to come. Anyone here think that when the shock of a dwindling purse sets in, the EU are going to set demands that they know that we will not accept.

Bloody remainers on this board live in a fantasy world.

jacqueline cateaux 31 Jan 2020 5:32PMJust 11 months left till we are completely free from the EU no alignment no level playing field no ECJ, just a free independent united kingdom with investment in our own defences and NHS and services free to have the brightest of futures and prosperity under Boris as a forward looking PM. We need a total overall ,from coastal to road infrastructure, to investment to hi tech to sciences, we will leap forward, we are The United Kingdom .2LikeReplyHugh Anthony 31 Jan 2020 5:36PM@jacqueline cateaux Well said, i think there will be some difficult times for the UK for a while, but no pain no gain, and we will get there as you say.

Stop buying German and French goods is good enough for me.. the rest of Europe is just what we use to be till now... victims of Brussels.

"In other words, the EU is letting the UK know in no uncertain terms, that it has completely lost power and influence in the EU."Power and influence we never had. No country has unless you are Germany and France. But the truth is Brussels are desperate for a deal.. nevermind the harsh words front of the media.

A hard brexit would cost up to six times our net contibution to the EU on an annual basis by 2035.

If the lost tax money cannot be recouped via other means, then the likely outcome would be for taxes to have to increase, just to stand still, and pay for brexit-induced losses -- that is what "not as good as membership" is likely to mean in reality.

Xenophobia, like ignorance, is expensive --so it would seem.

The will-of-the-ignorati must be obeyed!
