09/2/2022 16:43 | Or flu even | simithy
09/2/2022 16:40 | Spanish flue, which we all know was an H1N1 variant, did exactly this taking about 4 years. Exactly 100 years ago oddly enough! | simithy
09/2/2022 16:32 | I should clarify that covid came from bats via pangolins, allowing the mutation of the virus then to attack the ace 2 protein receptor of more mammals snd specifically humans. Once community transfer establishes the virus can hone in on the particular cell mechanisms of humans and spread more easily. A consequence of this is it may become less deadly. | simithy
09/2/2022 16:20 | Just wondering if anyone knows on here if the pathogen detector can identify strains of the flu virus. If so, a global early warning system depicting which vaccine to use would be of some merit. The ship has sailed on Covid, although bats have at least 200 more similar surprises to give to us. Rabies was, of course, the first. A community spreading of an H5N7 could be existential. The more people hopping on aeroplanes the sooner we’ll find out. | simithy

09/2/2022 15:04 | My break even is 14p. Let’s hope there’s news on the nuclear tenders and bio detectors soon. Things can turn very quickly with shares reliant on intellectual property. | aqc888
09/2/2022 14:50 | Back at the 15p placing price support but running out of cash. It's looking bleak here now unless Arnab can pull something out the bag. What's the next placing price? 10p? and more endless churn. I was briefly in profit (17p buyin) but of course knocked straight back down. This share is such a dog. | ark87
08/2/2022 13:40 | Along with the "Emerging technology and future concepts showcase" last week Kromek are getting the message out. Kromek issues white paper on Pandemic early warning systems to UK Gov. In his foreword to the paper, Sir Michael Fallon, who served as Defence Secretary from 2014-17, said: “We need to upgrade our biological protection from backward-looking “Test and Trace” systems to real-time autonomous DNA sequencing that can give our national and local agencies actionable intelligence to head off the next pandemic before it gets rooted. “The technology is already here, developed by cutting-edge bio security companies such as Kromek. Deploying it at our airports and ports and in our urban centres would better protect us against the next pandemic.” | 33mick

05/2/2022 20:39 | “Moreover, more advanced analytics, combined with bioinformatic tools and artificial intelligence, would enhance the capacity of a global surveillance system. This would require strong political commitment and unified governance as well as long-term financing. However, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have illustrated the devastating socio-economic, political, and health impacts of a pandemic which presents an opportunity to leverage political support to establish such global surveillance.” | aqc888
05/2/2022 20:36 | “Going forward, the world needs to figure out how to use new surveillance technologies to anticipate and limit the fallout from future pathogens. The Covid crisis has demonstrated the great potential of genetic sequencing for detecting threats in this way. But what the world really requires is a full-fledged automated genomic sequencing network — a Global Pathogen Surveillance Network — focused on detecting emerging outbreaks of known dangerous pathogens, such as anthrax or Ebola, or a new pathogen, like the next coronavirus.” | aqc888
05/2/2022 13:23 | Re-posting mick33's info as it's been lost too soon already! Just posted on Kromek's latest news - On 27th January 2022 Kromek hosted its first Emerging Technology and Future Concepts Showcase at the Royal Academy of Engineering in central London. The event was designed both to demonstrate the breadth of Kromek’s radiological and biological detection capabilities to a wide range of audiences and to provide a forum for constructive debate with a range of different stakeholders. The morning session was focussed towards investor and capital market analysts. Chief Executive Arnab Basu welcomed attendees and outlined his vision for the next phase of the company’s evolution and his global ambitions. This was followed by the first guest speaker Lt Col (Ret) Steven Webber, the Senior Technical Manager to the Nuclear Team at the US Department of Defense’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), to brief the audience on the situational context of the radiation threat. As the driving force behind the development and acquisition of the D3S detector, Lt Col Webber was also able to explain how the relationship between Kromek and its significant American customers had evolved. Kromek’s Business Manager for CBRN, Craig Duff, presented the portfolio of Kromek’s radiation detectors, including the new D5 RIID, which is the smallest, lightest and most sensitive hand-held detector on the market. Then the emphasis switched to Kromek’s biological detection capabilities. Biological warfare expert Col (Ret) Hamish de Bretton-Gordon described some of the challenges the world faces from biological weapons and pathogens, such as Covid-19. Kromek’s head of Biotechology, Jamie Marsay, then outlined the importance of bio-detection and discussed Kromek’s growing strength in this field and various development of technologies and product platforms. In the afternoon session, the guest speakers and Kromek presenters went into considerable technical and specialist detail about their range of products and capabilities and the innovation process within Kromek. The audience included representatives from AWE, DSTL, DE&S, the Defence CBRN Centre, the Department of Trade and other interested parties. In addition to presentations from Lt Col (Ret) Steven Webber and Col (Ret) Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, Sir Michael Fallon spoke of the importance of SMEs and the contribution they make to the UK’s industrial capability and in driving innovation within the security and defence industries. In the early evening, Kromek held a reception at the same venue, where members of the defence specialist and financial media were briefed on Kromek’s products and technologies. The day closed with a dinner at The Reform Club, in which the Kromek senior leadership team were joined by a select group of senior politicians, academics and CBRN experts, to discuss options for an industrial, national and global response to the growing biological threat. | dougmachin
05/2/2022 10:46 | a blind man could see this one coming a mile away how long before this false and highly manipulative discussion gets twisted and turned and manipulated into being a hobby-horse for radiation, security and anti-pathogen products - and the billion dollar markets they represent....... yawn yawn yawn | quepassa
05/2/2022 10:17 | What’s your view on it Quepassa? I’d just like to know so that I can do the opposite. You have an extraordinary talent at being wrong ALL the time. | aqc888

05/2/2022 08:46 | This war would be between nuclear countries that would use an array of new unseen before weapons such as cyber warfare, cutting deep sea cables, disrupting gas supplies etc. Russia has already played a key part in causing inflation to reach 7% in the U.K. When huge economic sanctions are put on Russia after an invasion, you can be sure they’ll do their best to cause similar economic damage in return. | aqc888
05/2/2022 00:31 | EDIT - the only stocks I would sell are ones where you re-assess and think... "yep, I shouldn't have bought that". I did that with BWNG. Retailers are not for me, so I sold out at a loss and moved on. | dougmachin |
