I think Monday's going to be a good day (!!) for UK stocks in general. On Friday, the Nasdaq was down on FB's (Meta) big crash (-200 billion market cap). But then recovered due to Amazon's numbers (+190 billion market cap) and others like Snap.

With the Nasdaq and S&P both up by US close of play on Friday. UK should hopefully benefit from this on Monday...

I don't think now's the time to sell anything. That time was last August/September. If you sell now you run the risk of losing out on any big time bounces. Now's the time to watch carefully and purchase any bargains...

There's a lot of US stocks that have been hit too, but the S&P and Nasdaq are kept up by the mega-stocks. So, there's still a lot of potential for the US indices to go up.

The other thing, I think, is that if we all keep taking money out of the market, then the market will just keep going down. We're all just doing the same thing. Need to break the cycle.

I'm thinking this bear market is a buying opportunity. What I've bought can just sit there and wait for now.

IMO.

AQC, this article:
suggests that the current uncertainty is likely giving downward pressure and the market might even recover when an expected war breaks out.

Before the pandemic it was clear a bad event was on the way, however many including myself failed to act and sell stocks. Today it seems clear there is a bad event on the way. After the Beijing Winter Olympics, 21st feb, I believe it is highly likely Russia will invade Ukraine, and China will be watching and deciding whether to invade Taiwan. War lowers the value of U.S. equities by around 15 percent. Probably a good time to start selling a bit of everything... thoughts?

Doesn’t seem to be tomorrow, so next Friday... I think Kromek would’ve died by now without him!

Knowing Kromeks luck - the day Kromek reveal news on the sales of the detector/nuclear tenders, it will probably be a few hours before Russia decides to invade Ukraine, erasing all the gains we’ve waited so long for!

Kromeks situation looks similar in some ways to the biggest winner of his 2020 tips, Xaar. A loss making company, at near all time lows with IP and a potential to

Last paragraph and summary of his choice of Xaar. Which went from 35p to 180p by the end of the year

“Trading on a bargain ratio of 1.6 and on a 65 per cent discount to last reported book value, I feel the investment risk is skewed to the upside. Interestingly, the share price is in oversold territory and trading close to its 2008 bear market lows around 35.8p, suggesting that the risk premium embedded is at extreme levels. Peel Hunt predicts a 2020 pre-tax loss of £15m on revenue of £44m to produce a cash loss of £8.3m (after accounting for non-cash depreciation and amortisation charges of £6.7m) and a free cash outflow of £9m to reduce net cash to £16m. However, if the new management team is successful in turning around the printhead operations faster than the market expects, then Xaar’s share price has potential to rise sharply given its cash backing and the substantial hidden value in its Xaar 3D shareholding. Bargain buy.”

AQC888 - Your percentage predictions so far have been wrong by an order of magnitude but given ST's incredibly bullish statement after interim results it's hard to see how he won't tip them again. Quepassa is correct though. It feels pathetic we're obsessing over a tipster instead of the company actually performing. Also,ST's tips only provide short term bounce(look at the charts).

Just posted on Kromek's latest news -

On 27th January 2022 Kromek hosted its first Emerging Technology and Future Concepts Showcase at the Royal Academy of Engineering in central London. The event was designed both to demonstrate the breadth of Kromek’s radiological and biological detection capabilities to a wide range of audiences and to provide a forum for constructive debate with a range of different stakeholders.

The morning session was focussed towards investor and capital market analysts. Chief Executive Arnab Basu welcomed attendees and outlined his vision for the next phase of the company’s evolution and his global ambitions. This was followed by the first guest speaker Lt Col (Ret) Steven Webber, the Senior Technical Manager to the Nuclear Team at the US Department of Defense’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), to brief the audience on the situational context of the radiation threat. As the driving force behind the development and acquisition of the D3S detector, Lt Col Webber was also able to explain how the relationship between Kromek and its significant American customers had evolved.

Kromek’s Business Manager for CBRN, Craig Duff, presented the portfolio of Kromek’s radiation detectors, including the new D5 RIID, which is the smallest, lightest and most sensitive hand-held detector on the market.

Then the emphasis switched to Kromek’s biological detection capabilities. Biological warfare expert Col (Ret) Hamish de Bretton-Gordon described some of the challenges the world faces from biological weapons and pathogens, such as Covid-19. Kromek’s head of Biotechology, Jamie Marsay, then outlined the importance of bio-detection and discussed Kromek’s growing strength in this field and various development of technologies and product platforms.

In the afternoon session, the guest speakers and Kromek presenters went into considerable technical and specialist detail about their range of products and capabilities and the innovation process within Kromek. The audience included representatives from AWE, DSTL, DE&S, the Defence CBRN Centre, the Department of Trade and other interested parties. In addition to presentations from Lt Col (Ret) Steven Webber and Col (Ret) Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, Sir Michael Fallon spoke of the importance of SMEs and the contribution they make to the UK’s industrial capability and in driving innovation within the security and defence industries.

In the early evening, Kromek held a reception at the same venue, where members of the defence specialist and financial media were briefed on Kromek’s products and technologies.

The day closed with a dinner at The Reform Club, in which the Kromek senior leadership team were joined by a select group of senior politicians, academics and CBRN experts, to discuss options for an industrial, national and global response to the growing biological threat.

Don’t think anybody’s bought Kromek in the hope it gets tipped on Friday. Doubt anyone outside these chat rooms are even aware of it. It is however a welcome boost that would occur on Friday that’s not priced in. I’d give it a 40% chance of happening

Question is what happens if not tipped.

Is the corollary true and the share plummets 20%?

Either way, buying a share on the hope that it gets tipped in a magazine is just gambling.

If Simon Thompson believes this is a “pivotal year” for Kromek - and he has a strong conviction in Kromek - repeatedly tipping it, including with a rare ‘strong buy’ last year. With multiple events that could drive the share significantly higher in this “pivotal year”. You’d think it had a very good chance of appearing in the much awaited annual bargain shares edition this Friday... I’d be delighted with the 20% boost that would give Kromek Friday morning

The only mug seems to be quepassa who bought a “significant stake” in Kromek at the beginning of this thread 9years ago, must have really hurt for him to still be haunting the share. Quepassas early losses in developing Kromeks IP however are what’s allowing new holders to profit handsomely. Thanks Quepassa

With his uncanny track record of the opposite happening to whatever he says, this would indicate there could be some news imminently on this...

Doug, of course real good news from sales is always best. But a sugar rush from Simon Thompson on top of this is very welcome, especially for this small £70m market cap company.

This is a ‘pivotal year’ for Kromek, as he says in his last article. Make of that as you will - but it’s been a repeated tip for years with a rare ‘strong buy’ recommendation late last year. Now being described as a ‘pivotal year’ does seem to suggest there is a strong probability it could be included. It is after all a very worthy addition to his bargain share list.

There are x3 catalysts that could send the share price significantly higher this year, any one of which could double the share price at least, let alone two or three of them. I’ll be waiting eagerly on Friday to see if Kromek will be included.

Duke Royalty, a favourite of mine from last year was also valued at £70m before his tip, it went from
27.5 to 29.5p the following day before rising to 38.5p 6weeks later. Kromek could benefit significantly too if tipped on Friday.
